I've been very consistent in that I do not like Trump, nor do I think conservative philosophy has been represented in the last three presidential elections.

Maybe 4 years of Harris will break the fever and we'll get non lunatic members of the Republican Party willing to do the work of legislating in lieu of throwing bombs and being interviewed daily in the press. Got to get back t serious people running the country.

McCain and Romney have long been (or were in the case of McCain) two of the most sensible, moderate politicians on the Hill that participate most readily in bipartisan legislation. Romney was the only Pub that had the courage to vote to convict Trump in his impeachment trial.

McCain was even rumored to be talking to John Kerry about a split presidential ticket (a hypothetical ticket that was extremely popular in polling, BTW)

But to whatever extent you're still confused, it takes courage to not bend the knee to a wannabe autocrat that has the party ensnared in a cult of personality.

McCain, Romney, Cheney, and other select Pubs display that courage and deference to country.

A candidate's actions are going to get scrutinized when they're running for president. That's not really news.

Don't you think it's accurate that McCain and Romney have largely been viewed by the media and others as two of the most bipartisan, centrist figures in Congress over the last 10 years?

If candidates actions are going to get scrutinized, it's hard to understand why more attention has not been paid to Kamala's anti Christian stance in the last 2 weeks. First, she skipped the Al Smith dinner. Next she told rally attendees they were "at the wrong rally" when they yelled, "Jesus is Lord," and, "Christ is King". One would expect a much bigger response from the media if it had been said by someone with an R by their name.

Its crazy that Trump is winning in the polls now with 90% of main stream media basically running propaganda or interference to support her, Hollywood throwing their hats in with her, social media companies manipulating information to her benefit, and her campaign spending $270 million to his $70 million.

It just shows how historically bad a candidate she is.

Yep, never Trump. The people he fired hate him. The media out to get him. Lawfare. The system is rigged. The election was stolen.

Were the Christians at Harris' rally there to support her? Or heckle her? Sure seemed like they were hecklers. She should just turn the other cheek as they interrupt her rally, simply because they're Christian?

However bad you think Harris is, she's polling dramatically better than Biden.

Maybe her polling looking like she's within the margin of error in a tossup election is also an indication of how historically partisan the country is?

Or how short a time she's been in the race relative to her opponent?

Or how poorly incumbent party candidates are faring around the world?

And couldn't you flip this around and ask why Trump is 'only' in a tossup situation with an allegedly historically bad candidate?

If he's in a dead heat with a terrible candidate, what does that say about him?

Thanks for your input. I have my opinion, you have yours. If Harris wins, I certainly pray you are right that she is the right answer for the future of this country. I really do for multiple reasons. However, the evidence that is currently reflective of Harris/Walz does not give me much hope (plenty of examples too long to list). That thinking seems to be the trend in the latest round of polls. The evidence already exists that Trump is capable of being president (many examples too long to list). He has been there, done that. I have never said he was perfect just as you and I are not. But, in my opinion, Trump is the much better option. Again, I respect that you have your opinion. We just do not agree.

In closing, I think both parties need to go back to the drawing board. However, in my opinion, the current Democrat Party has the country on a fast track to end our democracy that the country was founded on and flourished with for over two hundred years.

You're conflating officials and agencies.

The letter-signers weren't actively involved in determining the veracity of the laptop and they said as much in the letter. They were former intelligence officials, not active, not FBI (mostly CIA/NSA), and were clear in the letter it looked like part of the Russian disinformation campaign, but that they didn't know for certain if it was or not.

Keep in mind also this was also on the heels of the Comey letter in 2016, when an agency (FBI) was again at a crossroads and their actions played a huge role in swinging that election to Trump.

Agencies were rightly going to try to stay out of public furor with electoral implications and not inject themselves into the process as occurred four years prior.

Finally, having seen all the investigations since into Hunter and his dealings, it's fortunate that a largely trivial but salacious issue didn't bear on the election in 2020. Nothing has arisen since that indicates anything on that laptop had any bearing on Joe Biden's ability to hold office or perform his duties.

It's bizarre to watch Harris voters call Trump a threat to democracy when literally everything they do is a threat to democracy.
They're the party that undermines their own processes... they gave Bernie's delegates to Hilary and manipulated mail-in-ballots and extended "counting" to "elect" a president who they knew had dementia. Most recently, they bypassed their own primary process once again to appoint a candidate who never had a chance otherwise... Yet, they lecture about "democracy"

You're conflating officials and agencies.

The letter-signers weren't actively involved in determining the veracity of the laptop and they said as much in the letter. They were former intelligence officials, not active, not FBI (mostly CIA/NSA), and were clear in the letter it looked like part of the Russian disinformation campaign, but that they didn't know for certain if it was or not.

Keep in mind also this was also on the heels of the Comey letter in 2016, when an agency (FBI) was again at a crossroads and their actions played a huge role in swinging that election to Trump.

Agencies were rightly going to try to stay out of public furor with electoral implications and not inject themselves into the process as occurred four years prior.

Finally, having seen all the investigations since into Hunter and his dealings, it's fortunate that a largely trivial but salacious issue didn't bear on the election in 2020. Nothing has arisen since that indicates anything on that laptop had any bearing on Joe Biden's ability to hold office or perform his duties.
Civ, are you really still trying to defend those hacks (with top secret clearance, mind you) in their effort to mis-inform the country? BTW, the much beloved Bill Barr had access to the Laptop for over a year, prior to it being first reported. At the end of the day, too many things came out the absolutely suggested a compromised Biden. You know, big guy…

Sure, although that's a like simplistic. General Officers are nominated by the sitting President; essentially making them political appointees.

Kelly and Mattis were both Obama boys. Trump was naive to put them in his cabinet.
