What exactly is the price gouging that is happening btw? Inflation increases costs, costs get sent up to the customer. There isn't a single supplier of meat or eggs or milk.

The problem isn't the fact of the profit. It's that there's insufficient competition in certain industries to let simple supply and demand work out a healthy balance.

The government shouldn't be in the business of picking winners, but they should be in the business of trying to protect consumers by ensuring adequate competition.

there's nothing wrong with the anti trust laws that are currently on the books. This idea that there is this scheme to gouge consumers is just a fairy tale and pandering for votes.

Near monopoly control is not the same as monopoly control. You cool with Google or Amazon having a greater monopoly than meat companies? Are they price gouging?


I don't think you're a Marxist. But I do think you believe that socialism and centralized government rather than individualism and the free market is better for the US. I think that is an emotional argument rather than one based on past history and reality.

It feels good to use the power of the government to "fix" all these problems. But the inefficiencies of centralized planning and bureaucracy make that impossible to be successful let alone cost effective. Eventually you run out of wealthy and corporations taxable money, then you run out of the middle classes money.

The fact that politicians are proposing trillions in new spending in the name of equity and fairness is a sign of disaster. Yet you continue to dismiss it.
