Regarding "price controls", there is subtle ways to have "price controls" without having price controls. They will use some department of unelected individuals to "investigate claims of price gouging". These investigations will be accompanied with astronomical fees, time, etc. Ultimately they will find them "guilty" of price gouging then tell the companies they can "appeal the findings" which will just cost more time and money.

Basically, these companies will have allegations levied against them and this occurs outside the judicial system so they won't have a way to defend themselves. Whatever these people say, goes.

Go ahead with that. Supreme Court just decided a case where a federal oversight department does that and said it's unconstitutional.

I've got an idea!!

Let's take everything that comes out of Harris' mouth over the next three months and do communist Madlibs.

"Harris announces [Communist or Marxist nation]-style [policy] on [topic] under guise of [actual problem].

That way everyone will think she's like the Bride of Stalin!

Did you know that it's illegal in NC to jack up the price of generators during a hurricane? OMG Soviet price controls! You must hate that.

You really think anything even coming close to OMG Soviet price controls would ever pass congress, given the number of lobbyists running around? Lol, ok.

The cat's out of the bag, genius.

It's just a FACT that Leftist political movements are ideologically rooted in Marxist ideology. And now it's becoming more and more blatantly obvious that the Left/Democrats are communists with each passing day, especially over the last 4 to 5 years.

You can't gaslight people any more into denying this fact.

Ironically it's why I'm actually less worried about the prospects of a second Trump presidency than I was first time around.

Even with a historically conservative high court, I believe in our institutions, systems, and safeguards to keep us on the road.

There is zero chance that Soviet-style anything gets successfully legislated and/or stands up to the scrutiny of lower court or SC decisions/appeals.

I actually agree with this, but just because its unconstitutional hasnt stopped Biden/Harris administration from trying. The fact that Kamala's first policy proposal that is hers comes in as price controls on food, it does not instill confidence she has any idea what shes actually doing.

Both Trump and Biden have done way too much through executive action instead of going through Congress.

Grocery retail operates on just a 1% profit margin…

Harris is a total and complete dumbass.

When stores close and create MORE food deserts, blame Harris, not the companies.

She's talking about the grocery supply chain, not retailers, most of whom just racked up record profits over the last couple years on the backs of Americans who can't afford their grocery bills. Maybe you can get out your calculator and help us understand how inflation naturally results in record profits for these companies in the supply chain.

So you guys are super mad and want prices to come back down. But Harris better not suggest literally the only thing that might bring some prices down a little, outside of your lunatic fantasies about deflation?
Stop pushing the same lazy talking points. The grocery industry has shrunk its work force. Over 1000 stores have closed across the US. The industry is cutting bait and as a result has a higher profit margin, but that's not because of price gouging.

Harris is saying that inflation is no longer a problem, while also pushing a policy to go after inflation...

Make it make sense...

Walz claims he was deaf due to "loss of hearing suffered from deployment" to try and get out of a DUI.

This guy would literally lie so much about being in battle when he wasnt im starting to think he actually believe it himself. This guy is either a habitual liar or a sociopath.

You sure you're not the one pushing lazy talking points? If only there was a way to check.

Here's the retail grocery industry work force you were talking about during the inflation spike. Looks fine to me!

Now maybe you should spend a few minutes looking around at the gross profit margins of various food suppliers during 2021 and early 2022 and see if you notice anything odd. Of course they're all getting their butts kicked now thanks to a pretty well deserved consumer backlash.

Lol, anyway, if you want to die on the "no way the poultry industry would ever price gouge!" hill then go for it! I think this is a winning issue for you!

A theory of "price gouging" only works where an entire industry or sector has monopoly or cartel power.

Grocery stores cannot price gouge, because there are dozens of major grocery chains that could simply "undercut" and offer lower prices, if one grocery chain were to jack up prices on certain things far above the market value of those items.

We are clearly not seeing "price gouging" at grocery stores. This is the result of INFLATION....which is not caused by price gouging. It is caused by the DEVALUATION OF THE CURRENCY (DOLLAR) - which is caused by the massive levels of government debt/spending over the last ~4 years (injecting trillions in "new money" into the supply, devaluing the currency).

Has anyone said that grocery stores are the ones price gouging? You guys seem stuck on this.

I'm sure you're aware that s small handful of companies control all of our meat packing, etc, right? They are the ones passing high prices on to the grocery stores.

Oh, it's those "evil" meat packers....rrriiight.

According to communist Leftists, it's always "evil capitalism" to blame for society's ills.

It could never be their precious Leftist commie governments who are causing any of the problems.

Wonder if this is a $25k lump sum of cash wealth transfer from taxpayers, similar to Biden's scheme to have taxpayers pay other peoples' college loans. Or if it is something similar to "interest free" loans, that taxpayers will be paying the interest on.

Either way, it's socialism/communism....steal from one class of people to transfer it to another "privileged" class.

All, I've been studying some of these potential policy changes… I'm starting to see some good in them. So, I am supporting the following:

  • Price controls
  • Wage controls
  • Benefits controls
  • Family expansion controls

I'm sure, as more comes out, I will be supporting additional policies that may differ from my previous positions.
