Tough luck tonight for the Canes. Raanta played his ass off for 57 minutes then just got beat by a great tip. What happened after with the three other goals is really inconsequential. Sorokin is good but they have to get more past him and the power play has got to pick it up. They almost stole won tonight, so come back Sunday afternoon and play the same game.

Only scored 3 even strength goals in 3 games. Need to find a way to generate more offense from our forwards. Top 2 lines have been quiet all series 5 on 5

Good to get a road win under our belts. Hopefully Drury injury isn't too bad. Stepan will probably draw in on Tuesday.

Great win for the Canes. Aho, Necas, and Jarvis all had to step up and they did. Good to get that 1000 lb Road Gorilla off their backs so they know they can do it if later on in the playoffs.

MacKenzie Macheachern was money in his first ever game with the Canes. The pass he made to Aho on the two on one was a thing of beauty and to add a goal was even bigger. Someone asked him after the game "If the game could have gone any better" and he said "go back and look at my first shift because I missed on pass and Raanta saved me by making a good stop."

Raanta was fantastic and really kept them in the game early. The Islanders are a dirty bunch and are taking cheap shots. Very unprofessional and should be fined. I know the Canes are beat up and once you win a series early, it makes it tough in the next series because you get out of your grind and flow of playing every other day. Hopefully they can get it done on home ice and close them out. That would be the biggest FU you could send to the dirty *******s.

Hope Drury is going to be ok.

Tough loss for the Canes last night. They played pretty well most of the game, but the bounces did not go their way. The puck off of Aho's face that ended up in the net was just bad luck and the other two goals for the Islanders were from defensive mistakes and shoddy puck handling. Hurricanes hit two or three posts during the game too that did not go in. If they play with the same urgency on Friday, hopefully it will lead to a win. Don't want it to come down to a game 7 where just one bad bounce ends your season.

you're right. Arguably our best performance of the series overall and bounces just didnt go our way. Necas really needs to step up. So many mishandled pucks and passes last night and the turnover for the Islanders 3rd goal was horrendous.

We weren't all in it for the first 2 period by Freddie bailed us out and played well and then from the start of the 3rd on there wasn't a question of who the better team was. Gonna be tough next round regardless with our injuries but hope we can at least get Drury back and rest a bit to get our minds and bodies right for the next series.

I wouldn't say it was a weak goal. He had to protect the upper part of the net or Stasny might bank it off his head like Slavin did last week. If you click on the link to the video above they have a still picture and you can see how far Stasny is below the goal line. I would call it more of a good bounce for the Hurricanes. Sort of what the Islanders got the other night when it went off of Aho's face. Sorokin definitely gave them a chance, but the Canes were the better team as you said and they dominated the 3rd period and most of OT.

Rod pushed all the right buttons this series. From who to plug in for Turbo and Drury to the goalie decisions. Continues to impress.

Now we hope NJ and NYR continue to beat eachother up while we've got a couple days off.
