almost feel bad for Sorokin. He stood on his head for most of the series and for them to lose it on a "weak" goal is pretty tough. Loved our fight tonight. We weren't all in it for the first 2 period by Freddie bailed us out and played well and then from the start of the 3rd on there wasn't a question of who the better team was. Gonna be tough next round regardless with our injuries but hope we can at least get Drury back and rest a bit to get our minds and bodies right for the next series.DrummerboyWolf said:
Massive win for the Canes tonight to propel them into the second round. Sorokin was out of his mind in goal for the Islanders, but the Hurricanes stuck with their game and finally tied it in the 3rd period, then won it in overtime. Paul Stasny with the winning goal as he banked it off Sorokin's skate to send the Isles home for the summer.

Need to rest up and get ready for either the Devils or the Rangers. They play game 6 Saturday night in MSG with the Devils leading 3-2. Devils were down 0-2 after the first two at home, but have come back to win 3 straight. Rangers have only scored 2 goals the last three games.
I wouldn't say it was a weak goal. He had to protect the upper part of the net or Stasny might bank it off his head like Slavin did last week. If you click on the link to the video above they have a still picture and you can see how far Stasny is below the goal line. I would call it more of a good bounce for the Hurricanes. Sort of what the Islanders got the other night when it went off of Aho's face. Sorokin definitely gave them a chance, but the Canes were the better team as you said and they dominated the 3rd period and most of OT.jadawson said:almost feel bad for Sorokin.
