I hadn't watched an ATL race in several years until today -- but what I remembered was like most 1 1/2 tracks -- someone gets hooked up, and stays way in front the entire race. It may change up over the course of the race based on cautions, etc, but its not enjoyable (LMS is this way too).

But today was exciting --- that last segment got a little boring what with the single file, but you knew a great finish was coming.
It is interesting to see how mulitple teams can be competitive -- jeez, how long had it been since the 43 car was in the top 10 late in races twice in a season.

And even w/accidents, a month ago, who';d have picked Chastain, Suarez, Lajoie, Buescher, Haley, Bubba and Jones in the top 15 unless it was a fuel mileage race.

I had been keeping up with the Atlanta track changes and was extremely excited.

Unfortunately (and selfishly) I had an uncle pass this week and the funeral was yesterday, so I missed most of the race. The selfish part was me being pissed because I was going to miss the race... My wife set me straight real quick.

I agree -- i think the casual fan is a fan of "stories", and having some of these guys who maybe weren't given awesome rides because of $$ and daddy's connections to be able to have a chance each week is a good thing.

*Noted....my favorite driver of the last 20 years was Junior, whom of course was benefitted by $$ and daddy's connections, lol. But he, seemingly more than any other mainstream driver today, was "one of us", so was still a good story.

I'd have been pissed as well, but folks can't help when they die. The ones making his arrangements should have considered Sunday being race day and moved the funeral to Monday.

Those folks, and the ones that schedule weddings during football season, those are the ones that deserve any wrath that might come their way. Completely selfish moves on their parts....lol.

I definitely thought is was an entertaining race. Much more entertaining than previous Atlanta races. Some interesting tire issues that potentially were camber related...but interesting nonetheless. But overall, thought it was entertaining. Wouldn't want that necessarily at every mile and a half now, which is sometime the overreaction...but I enjoyed watching yesterday.

Agree about not doing that on every 1.5. Was hearing today that some teams were riding on only 3 inches on the right rear I believe. Crazy.

To me, and maybe I'm wrong, it seems tires have been more of an issue so far this season that in the past, at least early on.

Is the new wheel / lug system a big part of the problem? The independent suspension?

Or is it not that big a deal?
