I grew up on dirt track and nascar racing. My father raced at the old Wilson county speedway and I've seen petty race at the fair grounds.

Ronnie Hartsfield, yes sir. Ronnie actually just died in Feb 2021. Glen and Walter Simpkins were tough there also. They use to own the track. Back then I believe Wake Cty ran on Friday nights and Wilson Cty ran on Saturday nights.caryking said:
Hey Glass.. who was the guy that seamed to win all the time at Wake County Speedway?? Something like Ronnie Hartsfield?
Somehow, my father knew Ronnie, I think. Back in the early 70's, we went to a race and ended up going to the infield and spoke with one of the drivers. I believe it was Ronnie.Glasswolf said:Ronnie Hartsfield, yes sir. Ronnie actually just died in Feb 2021. Glen and Walter Simpkins were tough there also. They use to own the track. I completely agree with you!!Bell Tower Grey said:
Thanks, Glass. I probably saw your dad race at Wilson when I was growing up.
Ben Rhodes made a great crorssover move past Carson Hocevar with 4 laps to go to win the truck race last night. He had won both stages and had the dominant ride but screwed up at the end of stage one and missed pit road, so he had to run the same set of tires for stage two. Many of the teams changed tires on that first stop. Rhodes not being able to change tires until the end of the second stage may have helped him because he blew past the field during the last 4 laps to get the lead and win.
Folks can say what they want, but I still feel like the truck series is, and has been for a few years now, the best racing nascar has going right now. Hope the cup cars can put on half as good a show tonight as the trucks did last night.

Who owns Wake County now? We go almost every week when they race, I know one of the brothers died recently, correct?

Last 10 laps was the hardest I’ve ever ran a car in my entire life. Tried throwing a slide job on the last corner and knew as soon as I went into the corner I was spinning out with how much speed I carried… hate that it got Tyler in the process. Appreciate Tyler’s understanding.
