I know he can't help it, but michael waltrip's oozing gayness is too much right now. I realize nascar is all about embracing diversity, but this guy is trying way too hard.

They are like any other business, they have to get as much money from anywhere as they possibly can.Everpack said:
Also, NASCAR car sponsors suck these days. Who wants to cheer for a car sponsored by gutter guards or a damn online mortgage company?

Had to record the days events and just finished the clash. Good stuff; from the heats to LCQ to the main. New cars don't look bad. Kudos to NASCAR for setting up something different for this event.
Stock cars are meant for short tracks. I can't believe someone like Tony Stewart hasn't put their money and reputation out there for a new top of the line series that just focuses on short tracks. Similar cars to these with no tracks over 1 mile. Run every weekend just like today with heat races and mains.

He has series called SRX. I thought the race weekend was great. It's non-points race so who cares about the entertainment side of it. I've seen some complaints about this. But overall, I thought the cars and racing was great.Everpack said:

There are still a few big name sponsors, ie...Busch, Smithfield, Kroger to name a few. It's the cost that these teams are wanting is what's keeping some big names out or just leaving. The cost needs to come down. imoBell Tower Grey said:They are like any other business, they have to get as much money from anywhere as they possibly can.Everpack said:

Long gone are the days of big sponsorships from the likes of RJReynolds, other major tobacco companies, STP, etc..
I thought the racing was okay. I didn't know what the teams would do with a new car/new track. IMO...It's going to take a few races this year for these teams to feel the car out.TheStorm said:
I mean damn guys... the hype was good and I understand what they were trying to do, but the racing itself absolutely sucked. I'd much rather watch these cars on a real track next year.
This could have been a really exciting start to the new car and they got the part right that they probably felt that they needed to the most, but the racing product just was not there whatsoever.
That was hilarious.TheStorm said:
I watched it all too. 2nd LCQ race was I guess what some were hoping the entire deal would be like, but I guess I just would have rather watched the new cars on a real track and seen some real racing... highlight of the entire day might have been the crowd shots during Ice Cube's set at "halftime" of the main feature.
Yes, it was. That was something.Steve Williams said:That was hilarious.TheStorm said:
