Just got back from camping for 5 nights in Pisgah with several cousins. 5 families, 17 head total. Nearly a week of 73-degree days and 59-degree nights was right on time.
Fought off temperate rain forest showers throughout the week and cooked over open flame 2x-3x daily for 5.5 days. Drove through a monsoon to get home and feel like I've been various stages of waterlogged for a month. Was an awesome trip, the perfect COVID vacay, and can't wait to do it again. Can't say enough about Black Mountain Campground - proximity to trails, swimming holes, waterfalls, Mt. Mitchell, and Lake James was incredible. ETA: even had our first black bear sighting at our campsite, a little 2 year-old that as the ranger tells it has just been cut loose by his mom and is foraging for easy pickings. Crazy to see that cute little guy up close.
So after all that...I'm not grilling **** this weekend. We may not even cook again till Monday.
Dinner tonight is crackers, aged white cheddar, olives, pepperoni, and really good brown mustard, washed down with a cheap Pinot. Then I'm going to shower and go to bed by 9 and hunt for 12 hours of clean, blissful sleep in my own bed, and on a real mattress, if the kids will let me!
