I think Jimmy Johnson is a good guy; however, it's time for him to quit driving. For me, he's killing his legacy by holding on. Ok, he's not killing his legacy; rather, it just doesn't look good…

I agree. I wonder if this is a sponsor thing?
Perhaps, I really don't know. It almost reminds me of Richard Petty driving to long at the end of his career.

I get it. JJ should probably be focusing more on his team, since he is now majority owner.

You seem to know a little bit about the racing world. Was Petty pushed out? Seems like JJ just maneuvered him right out of there and took that team from him.
I'm not sure what really happened behind closed doors over there. I do know from a couple of folks there at the time, that the money wasn't good, book wise. Petty, hasn't really been involved for many of years now, was mostly and still is a figure head. Maury invested heavily into the team when he took over and brought JJ in not long after. I've been told that Maury didn't really understand just how hard being a owner was and just recently sold I believe a majority to JJ.

Same. Glad that rain stopped. Usually one of these is calm and the other is just crazy.

@FS1 got 916,000 viewers for last night's Daytona 500 qualifying session that followed college basketball, up 12% from 821,000 for the comparable window last year.

There were days where the front row guys would just drop to the back and I mean way back to keep the fenders on their cars lol
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

@FoxSports sold out of ads for Sunday's #Daytona500 at a record pace, according to people familiar with the matter.
Some brands are spending over $500,000 for a 30-second spot.
New advertisers include @Chipotle, @Airbnb and @Meta

I think so but Chase Briscoe was like "screw this". I'm going to the garage lol

I don't blame them, if you got a good car, save it.

Ok, that race was not that great…. Sorry, I didn't think that was good racing, other than the 40 car getting in…

So far, this duel seems a bit more tame.

Why would they throw a caution there? I mean jones will still start on the 2nd row regardless but they were within 150' of the finish line

I'll have see the wreck again. Not sure about that. But other than the 43 getting the win it doesn't change their starting position

Yes, they said after the race, while the broadcast was still. Unfortunately, I think you lose to true racing aspect when they do that…

@FoxSports asked #Daytona500 advertisers to run their commercials in the double-box format this year, and the network is planning to more than triple those type of spots as a result and to try to limit ad breaks to natural stops in the race, per sources.

Not good. Was keeping a eye on the weather and saw that the percentages were going in the wrong direction. Hopefully they get some luck.

Thanks for this. Trying my best to get into Nascar as I love Indycar/F1, but the bug hasnt hit me yet. I feel like if I could understand it (strategy mainly), it would stick.

Plan on watching Sunday while doing my usual Sunday cooking, looking forward to it

For some, it's a OEM, for others a driver. Start from there. One other thing, don't get too caught up with rules and such, just take it in. Finally, not sure where you live but find a local asphalt track and watch some late mods. Hope you stick with it, NASCAR is a great sport. BTW, what you cooking?

Agree, was pulling for that team to make it in. He was in the back going into the last lap but they put together a string of cars on the outside and it helped him make his way to the front, enough to edge out Yeley.

Loved watching Jr and his reaction.....that guy genuinely loves the sport.
