I think the right call was made. But give Bell credit, he went for it. FYI, NASCAR kept the 23 car during post race inspection.Glasswolf said:

Yes, but one could argue that it wasn't the " hotdog ". I can't do onions.
NASCAR officials will look further into the on-track actions of multiple competitors during Sunday's #NASCARPlayoffs race at @MartinsvilleSwy.

This race is exhibit A as to why the 'chase' is stupid and should be abolished. When a single race determines who gets the shot at the title, there is going to be serious shenanigans to ensure a driver advances. Dump the playoff format and go back to where every race counts the same. And while we're at it, dump stages/stage points too.TheStorm said:
Honestly, I don't know what to think. Radio transmissions certainly would seem to suggest that manufacturers were looking out for manufacturers (as it always is in these last races), but it pissed me off that the idiot announcers completely dismissed those same communications coming from the Toyotas. Wallace's communications were even more blatant than the Chevy's (oh? hey man I think I feel a tire going down all of a sudden), but it's like they were too damn stupid to even consider it, as it flew right over their peanut-sized heads. They never even acknowledged that Wallace and Bell drive for the same manufacturer, like they went on about the Chevys.
There needs to be a better way to decide these things. I felt pretty bad for Bell, but he seemed to know what was coming from the very beginning, so I think he knew he broke the rule.
Ain't nobody beating Blaney next week though.

Wallace gets popped with a hefty fine and maybe a crew chief suspension to start next season (points race).
Dillon gets popped with a less hefty fine and maybe a crew chief suspension to start next season (points race).
Chastain gets popped with the lowest of the fines, but I don't think there would be a crew chief suspension.
They have to make it so that there's a price involved if they want to keep it from happening again.
I say this only based on the radio communications that were shared with us during and directly after the telecast. If there are more communications that are significant that we haven't heard yet then I can't help that - I'm making my predictions based on what they've already played back for us only.
Bell might get a fine as well from the "Driver Safety" aspect, but I'm more inclined to believe that he's already been punished and that will be that.
Nothing happens to Byron, but I still feel like in some manner Bell is kind of getting screwed... it's just such an unprecedented situation.
One thing I can say, is that I don't like the tiebreaker going from any one round into another... I mean if after 35 f'n races and 4000+ points, if two guys actually tie for the transfer spot - send them both to the next round.
There's still only going to be one champion at the end of the season.
You know, I didn't notice…. That said, your post gave me a good laugh.TheStorm said:
Oh, and for my good friend Cary... whoever figured out about halfway through the NBC portion of the season to turn Diffey's microphone down a couple of notches was an absolute genius!
I was hoping that you might post. Hate to hear that they are thinking about driver suspensions. They didn't play any of Chastain's radio communications during the telecast like they did with both Dillon and Wallace, so I went with the assumption that maybe there wasn't anything damning but what do I know.PossumJenkins said:
I know a driver suspension for PHX is on the table...at least for Ross as that's the only one I've talked to

Yeah...clearly nothing has been decided yet. I'm pretty sure it would just be driver and not team. I would assume NASCAR would stay away from parking an entire team, especially with the ongoing litigation. Again. I don't know what will happen. I just know it's a possible penalty that is an option.ncsupack1 said:Glasswolf said:Parking the team or just Ross?ncsupack1 said:PossumJenkins said:

Interesting, I would love to know the difference between the 1 and the 3 audio. But thanks for sharing the info.PossumJenkins said:Yeah...clearly nothing has been decided yet. I know NASCAR held the 23 post race. I agree, I think NASCAR may come down hard on some folks. And yes, not sure how you fix the problem under this format. It's a by product.PossumJenkins said:ncsupack1 said:Interesting, I would love to know the difference between the 1 and the 3 audio. I def think the 3's audio was way worse. Honestly. I think they suspend Ross, AD and maybe Bubba. Bubba's would be off looking at SMT and not radio but i haven't seen it. I think NASCAR likely wants to come down very heavy handed here to try to prevent this in the future. Though the way the format is…i don't think there's any preventing it.

The Nos. 1, 3, and 23 teams have been penalized for violating the NASCAR Member Code of Conduct at @MartinsvilleSwy.
The crew chief and spotter of each car, as well as a team executive from each organization, have been suspended for this weekend's race in Phoenix.
And with it being the last race of the year and essentially a "non-points" race for those teams, this means absolutely nothing... I thought that overall there would be more teeth in whatever they did - but I didn't feel driver suspensions would happen initially, and they didn't.ncsupack1 said:Not surprising.Wolfer79 said:

I'd love to hear all the radio transmissions they reviewed, because I'm still trying to figure out how Chastain's team got nailed. There had to have been something more than what was disclosed during the telecast.
Ty Majeski was fined $12,500 by NASCAR on Wednesday for not attending Truck Series championship production day. He was home voting in Wisconsin and is appealing. https://t.co/imnOUGDPID
