This just in... Kyle Larson is still good.

*I still enjoyed watching a nice race on a Sunday afternoon though.
William Byron never got back in the game after the big bag covered his grill. That was probably the strangest thing I've ever seen..
And that was in fact, a BIG BAG... damn!

He was fortunate enough to get back on the lead lap and get a Top 10 finish out of it, but his engine power never seemed to get back to where it was beforehand... I watched him quite a bit on the tracker - he was weak on all the restarts, and I'd say that his passes after getting that lap back were more from having a better handling car than most as compared to how the car was actually running.

*I guess the beer can might explain that.

Did the beer can stay in the car, the whole race?

This reads that the beer can was found in (partially blocking) the air filter after the race, maybe that's what you are saying but I couldn't tell for sure...

Always enjoy the races at Phoenix.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

He's also starting to run good. Makes you think just how bad LMC was last year.

Agree. I do know that LMC made a strange early-midseason announcement that they were going to Toyota. So I believe that the drip of information they were getting from Chevy went to nothing. But yes, I don't think Petty really had much going on, I even think Bubba was out performing the equipment when there.

Toyota with 4 of the Top 6 starting positions... Hamlin on the pole, Ty Gibbs starting 2nd (he's going to win one this year, just watch). Chase Elliot and Byron the only Chevy's in that Top 6.

Completely agree with Gibbs. That kid can drive. It is also looking like Ford is once again behind the other OEMs at this point.

Ford did come in at 7, 8, 9 and going beyond that seem to be intermingled about the same with Chevy... no Toyota out of the Top 13 though (except Bubba at 22 - maybe he had issues).

True, just overall Ford seems behind the other two. I also don't think Ford has as many strong teams as Chevy and Toyota. Even more reason for SHR to have a good year.

Good question. When the racing gets tight pan out, some decent racing going on…show it

I'll have to readily admit, that I kind of lost track of everything after the green flag pit stops (outside of the window to finish) and then Hamlin's spin kind of flipped the field as to who had been running good up until that point (my guy got punted into the 20's after he was headed to a solid Top 5)... I actually ended up falling asleep on the couch before it ended.

I was happy to see that one of the stronger cars was still able to win. Bell was incredible in that run during the second half of Stage 2. Congrats to him that he didn't lose too many spots on the field getting flipped and that he had time to go get everybody still.

^ the race for Phoenix standards was okay. Some cars could move in traffic others not so much. The 9 and the 22 are the big surprises of having a tuff go so far.

I guess I'm just happy that we have racing to watch again.

Bristol next... no more dirt.
