Only two episodes in because HBO releases it on Sundays at 9pm, but have really enjoyed it. Good noir aspect with the 1920s Los Angeles

Pulling forward the new shoes from previous page:

Quote:

Several shows that have watched with wife, since there have still been limited sports:

The Morning Show (apple tv) -- very entertaining drama around the set of exactly what it sounds like, tied to the sexual assault backstory. Great cast with Jennifer Anniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carrell.....but the two most entertaining characters are the producer (Mark Duplass) and the news president (Billy Crudup). And I'm a big Reese Witherspoon fan.

Defending Jacob (apple tv) -- Based on the book by same name. Just a miniseries. I didn't like it as much as the book, and found all 3 characters (the kid, the mom -- Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey, the dad -- Chris Evans) to be wholly unlikeable people, though the storyline was entertaining.

Handmaids Tale (hulu) -- two seasons in....it is at the same time, difficult to watch and mesmerizing. Elizabeth Moss is outstanding and is in pretty much 90% of the scenes. The Serena Joy character has to go down as one of the most hateable female characters of all time. She's up there with Darlene Snell from Ozark as someone you find yourself wanting to personally kill off.

Zero Zero Zero (Amazon) - solid drug cartel series across three locations in Mexico, Italy, and US. Stories all intertwine

The Great (Hulu) - A take on Catherine the Great of Russia with lots of liberties, but really funny and crude.

Perry Mason (HBO Max) - Pretty solid mystery / detective show so far. Has the lead from The Americans as Perry Mason, also John Lithgow

Almost embarrassed to add I made it thru all 5 seasons of Downton Abbey as well. Two seasons would have been enough...but I figured I was building marital capital to sit in front of all the sports that will hopefully start up this fall.

If you've been to Biltmore House though, it is cool to see what would have been similar peak timeframes of the luxury living.

Same. Hell on Wheels is awesome. I've tried to watch Peaky Blinders twice now and keep coming to the same conclusion each time...Nope.

Had to turn on subtitles to understand what the heck they were saying but Peaky Blinders is such a good show.

Really enjoyed the Unsolved Mysteries series on Netflix. 'Mystery on the rooftop' is definitely worth watching and had me pondering for days how the heck the whole thing happened.

Finished Perry Mason on HBO -- really liked it. But if any of you are thinking, you know, my mom and dad really loved Perry Mason...this would be a great opportunity to reconnect and watch that with them....STOP. Do not do that unless you want to be scarred for life, or rather, scar your parents for life. The first episode might get you disowned.
It is not your parents' Perry Mason. That said....I thought it was very good. And Matthew Rhys is good in it.

Also finished all 3 seasons of Goliath. I love Billy Bob Thornton, and he's really good in this about a down and out lawyer who goes from hanging out all day in a bar to taking on the big law firms. Another show where the writers must get paid for the # of cuss words they integrate, but Thornton's southern drawl always makes them funnier.

Been watching Drive to Survive on Netflix. Even as someone who isnt a big Formula 1 fan, I am hooked. Extremely well done and fantastically shot

Been watching *****t's Creek on Netflix. Nearing end of the 2nd (of 6) seasons. The real-life father/son team of Eugene and Daniel Levy are hilarious as father and son in this show

We need more laughter and I just sorta stumbled across this one recently, and have really enjoyed.

Twyla (from the restaurant) is Eugene Levy's daughter as well

Yep. I've been binging it the last few days. Not the greatest TV show ever, but it's entertaining and easy to watch. Sometimes you need to have something that's decent and you don't have to watch closely each episode. There's so many serious shows out there now it's nice to have something like this.

Interesting....my wife kept saying she thought his daughter was in it as well, but I knew it wasn't his show-daughter (who looks too good to have come from Eugene).

Watching several episodes each night has become really entertaining.
Not sure it would live up to the continual rewatches like The Office, Parks & Rec, Everyone loves Raymond, and The Andy Griffith Show in our house, but it gives a good reason to laugh out loud.

Yep - each episode gets a little weirder and I'm here for it.

HBO has another show coming out with Jude Law that's supposed to be good:

The one about the French family was so bizarre as well. It's not really that unsolved but I have never, ever heard of a crime quite like that.

Apple TV is one that I don't have - I've been interested in that one with Tom Hanks, I think it's called Greyhound. Have you watched? Mythic Quest is the one with the guy from Always Sunny right?

Same, same.

I need to watch the most recent episode as I did the football thing Sunday and Monday instead of watching the latest ep.

I watched the previews of the Jude Law deal, not sure how I feel about it. I just need to watch it, I guess. Previews didn't really do it for me.

Class Action Park is a must watch on HBO. I'm in the age range for water parks of that era so it makes me laugh reliving my youth of the parks back in the day.

Lovecraft is great.

Loved the first episode of raised by wolves which is on YouTube! My Roku Tv isn't compatible with HBO Max and I'm resisting watching it on my actual computer.

Your earlier rec of The Boys is spot on. It's my favorite current show, so well done, creative, and so well paced.

I haven't yet, but will soon. My wife watches so many serious shows I like to get some lighthearted ones in where I can. Anything with Hanks in it is a must watch for me.

Yep, the guys from Always Sunny.

Greyhound was just ok. Could've been longer, IMO.

Mythic Quest is funny but I didn't stick with it. And yeah, Rob McElhenney is in it as well as the guy that plays Rickety Cricket as well. lol

There are other really good series on AppleTV. The Morning Show and See were really good and the movie The Banker was really good as well.

The MQ finale is solid enough to finish off the season. It's very relevant to business in quarantine. They hit a homerun with that episode. Literally LOLed multiple times throughout the show.

Second season is really fantastic so far. They're releasing episodes weekly so you could just leave it for after football season and binge through it all then.

I recommend not getting Netflix - home of child pornography.
