Right - we sought an increase in budget from $15M to $20M, but it's never been disclosed what that additional $5M was going to be used for or where that additional $5M came from.

Did we have to raise an extra $5M because additional funds were needed to cover an increase in construction and financing costs on the original $15M project plans from January 2022? Or did the department/WPC generate an additional $5M in fundraising allowing the original plans to be expanded?

There are still a lot of unknowns related to the current status of fundraising, overall project cost, and the construction timeline that haven't been communicated to the fanbase by the athletic dept or WPC. The project update page references a December 2024 groundbreaking on team facility and player performance spaces. That's the first update I've seen on a timeline since the start of the 2023 season.

Just find it all especially confusing considering that we haven't widely promoted these renovations at all in nearly two years.

To me, it's not a matter of if/when these renovations will occur. I do think they'll continue to work on what was initially presented in January 2022. However, NCSU has not only provided incredibly vague messaging as to what's gone on with these renovations since February 2023, but we've also seemingly stopped promoting the renovations to the general fanbase. Why not continue marketing these renovations through emails, social media, at games, etc. and attempt to continue raising $ in excess of the originally stated $15M goal? Especially when you just had a CWS run in 2024?

I'm sure additional fundraising is still happening with big $ donors behind the scenes, and clearly there was additional BOG funding added, but there is a night and day difference with how we promoted these renovations to the fanbase at-large between Jan 2022-Feb 2023 and then from Feb 2023-Dec 2024.

After that initial announcement in Jan 2022, I had many friends who I would hardly call Pack9 die-hard fans tell me that they'd donated $ because of the momentum the program had after the 2021 CWS run. These are the type of fans that aren't going to continue to donate unless you give them a reason to keep donating. Hell, I have season tickets, and I watch most of the games each season, and I personally don't feel inclined to donate to this project again outside of my season ticket fees.

They raised $20 million instead of the stated goal of $15. That is why the project is behind. They raised too much money and got caught in governmental crap to get changes approved. At least that's my read on it. I'm going over to WPC on Monday to drop off a check, I'll see if I can get an update and share

Another $5M check?

Not quite that many zeros. They didn't turn it down though.

Did not get a good answer today, hope to get an update later this week though.

I saw the report last year that mentioned something about too much $ being raised, but they didn't update the $15M fundraising tracker on the project website for over a year and only recently updated it to show $15M raised, and that funding was complete, before that tracker was removed from the page. We have no idea where that fundraising figure actually stands now or what the current budgeted cost for the overall project is either. The only new update to that page is that a groundbreaking for team facilities is scheduled for sometime in Dec 2024.

Since this project was announced in 2022, construction and financing costs have both exploded across the country. Broussard and Corrigan's very minor updates this year also mentioned issues run into over the course of the planned construction. With all that being taken into consideration, I wouldn't be shocked to see that any additional $ from the BOG or from fans in excess of that initial $15M figure would simply be used to cover cost increases associated with the original plan announced in January 2022.

Regardless, it would be great to actually hear something official from the department or WPC on what the plans and current timeline/fundraising look like given that 2 full seasons have passed since the last visible update was made to Doak. Still find it really odd that we made a CWS this year and no efforts were made on social media or over email to market the fundraising for this project to the fanbase like we had done from Jan 2022-Feb 2023.
What if the reason that there hasn't been an update is that there is nothing to update? Not really any changes to plan, at least for current planned phases, so not really anything to update anyone about. I think your comment about additional funds going to cover increased cost makes a lot of sense. I think it is fair to say that something like that should be communicated though so that is more than fair.

And while I appreciate that some people are upset that messaging was not continued/fundraising continuing to be promoted etc, it's entirely possible that the school and fundraising partners have seen that increased success does not lead to some great windfall of donations. Juice may have not been worth the squeeze to spend additional capital or manpower trying to raise what they think are negligible dollars. IDK if I would agree with that but sounds like the first FF in 40+ years didn't move the needle in basketball, I can see same logic being applied to baseball.

They are clearly doing something with construction of a building behind center field. Maybe they can post something about that.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Good to finally see something on this front. Loved all the videos they released leading up to the 2023 season of construction, groundbreakings, etc. Hope to see more of it. Will only help to keep promoting this to keep it in the fanbases' mind.

Temporary, as in a building that will temporarily house the batting cages and be used for something else later, or is the building itself a temporary structure?

Eagle Baseball announces $10 million state-of-the-art facility set to be completed by the 2026 season.

Along with a new locker room and team areas, the facility will feature new seating options that are among some of the best in all of college baseball.

For Eagle Nation, new additions include premium field-level spaces, terrace space, party decks, and cabanas down the third baseline. For the team itself, its facilities are getting a major upgrade and will serve as a massive recruiting point for future prospects and day-to-day use for current Eagles. The facility will include a new locker room, meeting room, players' lounge, nutrition center, display lobby, coaching offices, training room, as well as indoor batting cages and pitching tunnels with state-of-the-art technology for year-round use.

Yeah guess I was confirming the green building from the video was the temporary building mentioned in the write up.
