Rio has only started one game at the Cape so far but was really good in that one start. I hope he gets another start to build upon that.

Fanning has made two starts so far this summer and been really good striking out 15 in 11 innings so far. I'm guessing he'll get a shot at both to see where he settles in. Really like the guys we've added on the bump from the portal so far. Selfishly hope Rio is back.

Fanning is also blind in his left eye from what sounds like a farming accident. Crazy.

Saw an article that Fanning has been up tp 97mph in the past. In the fall 2022 report from D1 it said he was 90-91. Not sure where he sits, but definitely a nice arm that will push for meaningful minutes

I just saw a video of him in the Belmont game this year where he hit 92 (the only pitch of the video lol). I haven't tried looking for full games yet.

yeah i figured the 97 was a big leap compared to the fall report. but seems like he has good stuff either way.

really like the upside of some of the arms we have brought it. Dont expect to get Banks on campus, but I would be surprised if Fanning and Van Dam don't have big roles

94 against LSU and it was consistent against the 3 batters he faced.

correct. the portal will still be active then (last day to enter is 7/13), and players will decide on FA deals if they aren't drafted. so it will be more clear over the next couple weeks, but still not "set" until classes start

Yeah a lot will depend on what happens the next 3-4 days.

Multiple transfers and HS kids are on draft radar.

I feel like Alex Sosa could be the young bat that replaces Peebles at DH and then takes over as full time catcher in 2025.

Apparently Sosa really impresses at the plate.

Rio has only started one game at the Cape so far but was really good in that one start. I hope he gets another start to build upon that.

My brother was born legally blind in one eye and was one of the most naturally gifted pitchers I've been around. He gave up playing before HS, but he could sling it. I never understood how he could do it without any depth perception, but somehow he's able to play lots of sports and do lots of things he shouldn't be able to on paper.
Just a guy on the sunshine squad.

I know nothing about that kid, but it seems like he was a "senior" at columbia (covid year, etc. etc). Considering that, going to Duke to get a masters is something that would be difficult to turn down, IMO. Especially as an UDFA

Numbers weren't pretty but seems to strike dudes out. Walks a lot too. haha

Playing for the Brewster Whitecaps at the Cape this summer. I've seen video of him throwing mid 90s.
