If one of these prisoners never entered the Capitol and were prosecuted, then I have sympathy for them (with the exception of the leaders of the right-wing Antifa gang leaders, who also should've reaped what they sowed). If you choose with your free will to cross the threshold of the Capitol and committed a crime, and trespassing is all that you did, well that was a choice that those folks made that day, and they suffer the consequences of that decision.
And I know your argument of the police "invited" them in, and if you believe in that, then you should also believe that all of the illegal immigrants the last 4 years that came into the US by Biden's open border policies also committed no real crime because they were also "invited" in and should also not suffer the consequences of their decision to break the law.
Hell, I give Were credit, he says he was there that day, and he would've done the same thing that would've done, which is not participate in a crime, whether you think it's real or not is kind of irrelevant.
I also take umbrage to calling these people hostages. You care about these people more than the actual American citizens taken hostage by Hamas. You have NEVER written anything here about the real hostages, who were kidnapped from their homes and tortured and God forbid are already dead. That was not a free will choice. That's what a hostage is.
As in an earlier post (which you have no response to), congrats, you have taken what was a double standard between left wing violence and right wing violence and eliminated it by demonstrating the rule of law doesn't matter anymore, and political violence and lawlessness is now acceptable. You have seceded the moral high ground and decided to live with the pigs in the mud.
The fact that you fail to see what those potential consequences will be nor do you see your hypocrisy is really telling.
I don't "get off" putting innocent people in jail, I believe in the institution of rule of law. You don't.
No, you misunderstand or are misrepresenting my position. If any of the J6ers truly did assault anyone (including a police officer) or commit any sort of other offense, then they should be punished. However, they should get an APPROPRIATE punishment....and not have the book thrown at them with a bunch of bogus charges, and overly harsh sentences...which is what occurred with ~99% of the J6ers charged.
For example, if someone "trespassed" in the capital (which is the "horrible offense" that 99% of these ~1,500 J6ers committed), they should get probation at worst. Not spend 4 years in jail either awaiting trial or get years in prison, and have a bunch of other charges thrown at them beyond trespassing. Are you so blinded by your ideology that you cannot see that there was grave injustice committed against people like this?
The people arguing for the release of the J6 political prisoners are the ones who truly believe in the rule of law and JUSTICE. It is NOT "rule of law" to throw people in prison for 4+ years for trespassing. That is a travesty of justice.
