I was told at another place with trans athletes, that since it didn't effect my kids, why should I care? Something to the effect, that why worry? I was blowing it out of proportion.

Just saying, that I was told, I was making a big deal out of nothing. I believe, other posters with same concerns, were called out as well. So what makes this any different? You don't live in Idaho, so why worry? Why the call for a civil discussion now? And yes, posters make a lot of wild points all the time.

Agree, you did not. Look, I personally think the law is dumb. I'm just trying to point out how different views are looked at. My views on this issue are well documented here.

I hate debating the 0.0000001% what about this argument against anything it's absolutely disingenuous to pretend that's an every day occurrence to drum up outrage. Happens with abortion, trans rights, guns. Just be reasonable. Geez

The founding fathers created a republic. In American political discourse, states' rights are political powers held for the state governments rather than the federal government according to the United States Constitution, reflecting especially the enumerated powers of Congress and the Tenth Amendment. The enumerated powers that are listed in the Constitution include exclusive federal powers, as well as concurrent powers that are shared with the states, and all of those powers are contrasted with the reserved powersalso called states' rights that only the states possess.

If not specifically called out in the US Constitution as a federal power, its a states power.

You can get your panties in a wad about whatever you want......but Idaho's state govt should establish laws for Idaho. Idaho voters can change their representation to affect changes laws as they see fit.

Bee article on if other Presidents spoke like Biden

"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this...uh, you know... the thing!": A truly powerful moment in history from Ronald Reagan.

"Yesterday, December 47th, a day that will live in infamanarathgary, America was attacked by the air and naval forces of the Empire of Mexico.": Franklin D. Roosevelt with one of the nation's most somber messages.

"Ask not what your country can do for you… ask… ask what… ask not what you can do for… ask things.": John F. Kennedy with an inspiring word from a golden era of history.

"That depends on what the definition of 'start quote' is 'end quote' is.": Bill Clinton got himself out of hot water with this shrewd observation.

"Speak softly and carry...ah...well, anyway.": The encapsulation of Teddy Roosevelt's foreign policy that has guided us for decades.

"The only thing we have to fear is... pause.": No wonder FDR got himself elected an unprecedented four times.

I'm not the biggest Thom Tillis fan but I do like his Deterrent bill he's trying to get passed.

It lowers the financial reporting for universities from foreign sources from $250K to $50K and $0 for some designated countries. We need to know who is sending money to our schools

Just quit sending money to schools for research and we shouldn't care (at the federal level) where the money comes from…. States can manage their State institutions!

Norway's school smartphone ban is working. In unsurprising news, middle school kids in Norway have been feeling mentally healthier and performing better academically since a public health initiative banned smartphones in schools, according to a new study. After three years of the policy, girls' GPAs increased, while visits to mental health professionals decreased by 60%and girls from lower-income families benefited the most. There wasn't much effect on boys' academic standings, but both boys and girls experienced 43%46% less bullying after putting their phones away.

Former Rep. Peter Meijer (R-Mich.) has announced that he's pulling out of the Republican primary race for a U.S. Senate seat in Michigan. Thus leaving four Republican candidates and three Democrats vying for the seat being vacated by Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.).

Of the ten Republicans who voted to impeach President Trump for the second time, the only ones still left in office are Reps. Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.) and David Valadao (R-Calif.).

The other eight were Mr. Meijer, along with former Reps. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), Anthony Gonzalez (R-Ohio), Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.), John Katko (R-N.Y.), Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), Tom Rice (R-S.C.) and Fred Upton (R-Mich.).

BREAKING: Jill Stein and her Campaign Manager and Deputy Campaign Manager, Jason Call and Kelly Merrill-Cayer, have been arrested.

So not only is Trump being pounced on from all sides by the law, now Presidential Candidate Jill Stein has been arrested. I didn't even think she posed much of a challenge to Biden but then I don't follow her all that closely. Have we really fallen so low that those who challenge for the Presidency are subject to being arrested. I never thought that would happen here. If only there was someone who would Make America Great Again and save us from this Socialist/Marxist nightmare - oh wait, maybe there is hope on the horizon

So tomorrow is the day the Democrats have dreaded. Johnson is forcing a vote on Rep. Lawler's bill, H.R.6090 - Antisemitism Awareness Act of 2023. Where the Democrats will either vote for the anti-Semitism bill that uses the definition by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.or they will show their support for the anti-semitic protestors. Either way it could cause them to lose support and they aren't happy.

In reviewing, investigating, or deciding whether there has been a violation of title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. 2000d et seq.) on the basis of race, color, or national origin, based on an individual's actual or perceived shared Jewish ancestry or Jewish ethnic characteristics, the Department of Education shall take into consideration the definition of antisemitism as part of the Department's assessment of whether the practice was motivated by antisemitic intent.

One could say Lawler is only doing what the Biden Administration wanted. The White House released the first-ever United States National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism on May 25, 2023, making clear that the fight against this hate is a national, bipartisan priority that must be successfully conducted through a whole-of-government-and-society approach. And now this vote is going to hold the Democrats feet to the fire, and maybe some Republicans, are they opposed to the anti-semitism that is growing.
