Kurt Busch, the 2004 NASCAR champion who stepped away from racing last season following a significant concussion, officially retired Saturday at Daytona International Speedway.

Busch, 45, held back tears as he called it quits while sitting on the same stage where he celebrated one of his most memorable Cup Series victories -- the 2017 Daytona 500.

"My body is just having a battle with Father Time," Busch said, adding he has dealt with arthritis and gout while trying to recover from a rear-impact collision he says rattled his brain.

"I'm very happy, complacent," he said. "There's nothing I look back on and regret about having this opportunity at the top level of NASCAR."

Hit something in the ground at the wrong angle or just plain arrow. I thought that the race was good. The 9 fans are going to be something this week on channel 90.

Shocking that the guys in the booth had to argue about it for 5 minutes, before they were finally able to open their eyes a little better to see that Gibbs didn't just turn on his own... sometimes these guys just need to shut up and watch first (and realize that you are watching a night race under the lights).

Geniuses. Especially Earnhardt, Jr.

Beyond that, I'm ready for The Chase I guess... Darlington seems to be an exciting track to start it at (Storm quickly runs to Jayski to make sure who he thinks he remembers won there in May and likes what he sees ).

Last night was a dang good race. Crazy that the 9 team didn't make it this year, they had their chances but couldn't do it. That team seemed off from the start of the season. Also, as a Ford guy happy for RFK.
