I flipped across it overnight and watched it for a while... I remembered you saying that you were going and I was thinking how cool those cars looked out there at night and what it would be like to be there.

Especially all the different categories running at varying speeds on the track at the same time like that.

Just one week until the Clash (2/5)... I know that qualifying for the 500 isn't until the 15th, but when exactly do the teams arrive to Daytona and start practice?

I've only been to one race at Daytona. It was the July race, when Austin Dillon's car was torn to pieces crossing the finish line. Of course, Dale Jr won the race….

This year is a big one for NASCAR as they begin negotiating their next media rights deal. If they want to get a good start on the next 75 years of the sport, NASCAR will need to stick the landing in negotiations.

Exclusive negotiations started between current rightsholders Fox and NBC, and according to Sports Business Journal's John Ourand, negotiations "appear to be progressing smoothly," though it's still in the "early days." Both Fox and NBC, as well as NASCAR, want to remain partners.

I watched the last of the 24 on Sunday. It was interesting, as I've never really watched it much and for that long before. I have a question, and you may be able to answer.

Why does Cadillac have an entry / entries in this race? I don't understand. Their public market seems to be SUVs; their luxury cars aren't that much any more imho. Is it a GM thing? Certainly understand Corvette presence, but Cadillac?

As much as I'm chomping at the bit for the season to begin... I just have this ominous feeling in my gut that I'm going to be majorly underwhelmed by the race this Sunday.

Hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that I won't be.

Maybe someone will "pull a Chastain" to add some more excitement to it for me.
