I found it extremely interesting how they broke down the data down to the neighborhood in some area. Like Chicago. You would hope/think this would drive the discussion down to the fact that guns aren't really the problem, just gun violence is part of the symptom.
I was just coming back to this topic to encourage Civ to take a look at the Chicago neighborhood map since he likes maps. I agree that the maps do help us understand the hot spots geographically.

hokie, I like the way you stated that bolded point too.
I've always believed that when it comes to these street crime murders.

Seriously. Do that many people really go through living their lives with blinders on?

That map only shows exactly what most here already realize...

I lived and worked in Chicago in the late 70s-early 80s. On a recent business trip I found the neighborhoods I once knew as much more paranoid and locked down. Where I once walked casually seemed almost dangerous. Ruthless Mexican drug cartels and Central American gangs are now in charge.

Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SAordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State.

Quote:

SAN ANTONIO According to a new report by the San Antonio Express-News, a surveillance video shows police never tried to open the doors at Robb Elementary leading to the classrooms where the shooter went inside.

The report cites law enforcement close to the investigation as their source.
That source reportedly told the Express-News that police may have assumed the doors were locked and the shooter could not have locked the doors from the inside. Pete Arredondo, the district police chief in charge of law enforcement's response at Robb, has said previously that he went through a ring of keys provided by a janitor in order to try and gain entry.

The Express-News, however, reports that he was instead trying other doors nearby in an attempt to locate a master key.

The classroom doors at Robb Elementary are designed to lock automatically when they are closed with a key as the only way to open the doors on the outside, the source told the newspaper.
He never tried the door where the shooter was. He tried other doors where he claimed to be looking for a master key. Why did he not have the master key???

Here is a prime example as why the 2nd Amendment needs to remain in place.

It also shows a prime example of exactly where we are as a country. These "fine upstanding citizens" I'm sure are all law-abiding and would adhere to any firearm regulations that are put in place.

Until this type of behavior is condemned, charged, prosecuted and punished it will never end.

Excuse the Sleepy Joe tweet above.. only way I could post the other one.

Thank goodness D.C. has the some of, if not the strictest gun laws in America!!!

https://giffords.org/lawcenter/gun-laws/washington-dc/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_District_of_Columbia

https://mpdc.dc.gov/page/general-requirements-firearms-registration

See how these fine, outstanding, law abiding citizens follow the laws?

Once again... there is a common denominator with both of the incidents I posted. Wonder what that is?

Man every day something new seems to come out to make this a bigger cluster than you think could be possible. Just an abject failure by the police here.

It almost seems like they intended to make this as bad as they could. It's inconceivable that this same team completed training for this type of situation in March and then they did the opposite of what they were trained to do just a few weeks later.

As if something bad were to happen they would be able to make some sort of political statement........

This is why the initial reaction of banning certain guns should have been paused. I have no problem with people wanting to talk about policy changes; however, we should always wait until undisputed facts come out.

BTW, I'm still waiting for a more precise understanding. Right now, things don't look good; however, it's still too early to form conclusions.

And now the "department" has filed a suit to block all footage from body cameras from the public. It will be overturned but they have plenty of time to "edit" the footage.

Man between this and election fraud you sure do wait a long time to form conclusions.

Just giving you a hard time but it's nearly impossible to conceive of reasonable explanations for the seemingly utter lack of having or following active school schooler protocols down there.

Just a massive cluster from tip to tail.

That's good...

Yea, this one is really showing some screwed up possibilities, that's for sure... Based on the initial reports, it sounded like the police did everything by the book; however, now the book appears to be written by some radical, I guess...

BTW, regarding election fraud, that one has sure showed some screwed up possibilities as well. As I have said, from the beginning, I don't know for 100% certainty, we had fraud; however, the facts (based on how they being told) certainly appear to exhibit enough doubt to call into question fraudulent activities. That said, I am sure open to being wrong on my opinion...

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/supreme-court-strikes-down-new-york-concealed-carry-restriction/

Quote:

The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that New York's "proper-cause" requirement to obtain a concealed-carry license is unconstitutional as it violates ordinary citizens' Second Amendment rights.

The Court voted 6 - 3 to strike down the New York law, which has been in place since 1913 and required that people show a special need to obtain a license to carry a concealed handgun outside the home.

Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in the majority opinion in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals to carry a gun outside the home, adding that the state's "proper cause" requirement "violates the Fourteenth Amendment by preventing law-abiding citizens with ordinary self-defense needs from exercising their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms in public for self-defense."

Roughly one-quarter of the U.S. population lives in states that will likely be impacted by the ruling, the Associated Press reported. Several states have similar laws that are likely to be challenged in response to the ruling, including California, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Rhode Island, according to the AP.

Let's be specific where it matters, RINO Thom Tillis led the way because he knows we'll forget all about it in 2025 when he becomes a fifth year conservative prepping for another election.

I agree, Tillis matters to us; however, anytime I'm in front of a person, wherever I go, in this country, I'll call out the fake conservatives to anybody that listens. Hell, for that matter, I call them out anyway…

One other thought, the new USSC decision concerning 2nd Amendment rights is so sweeping that I'm not sure what they've crafted in the Senate isn't already legally stillborn.

I haven't read the opinion on that ruling; so, I don't know how to respond. It does sound, based on what little bit I've heard, fairly sweeping. If all true, this is a good thing for our constitution…

Uvalde School Police Chief Should Not Have Been

Quote:

Gagliano, a retired FBI supervisory special agent who served on the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team and as a senior SWAT team leader, told National Review in a recent interview that the police response in Uvalde represented a "colossal failure of the incident command system."

"Why was a police chief of a six-member school-district police department left in charge as the on-scene commander as long as he was?" Gagliano said. "I would argue a sergeant or lieutenant from a larger police department, whether it's the Department of Public Safety in Texas or another local police department with a bigger department probably has more experience in training."

Gagliano said it was the responsibility of someone from a larger organization to arrive and tell Arredondo they were taking control of the scene. Without that, Arredondo felt he was in charge and was left to make the "horrific decision . . . to wait for the cavalry to show up."
