Maybe I am overthinking this but just wondering since we are up 5 at least going into bottom 9th if we should bring out a lesser arm to close the 9th and keep Dudan at 15 pitches? Dudan is so good just want as much as we can get from him later this weekend. I figure they won't though, they'll stick with him

Even if Dudan pitches the 9th, he'd be available Sunday. We still need to win two more games, and if he throws tomorrow he would definitely be done. If the margin is the same, I think he'll be back out there. If we score a few more, that's different.

Up this many runs it seems like it would make a lot more sense for Dudan to pitch Saturday/Monday rather than Friday/Sunday. If we lose tomorrow night, we are going to need his arm.

We have Fritton, Coop, Marohn,Smith for tomorrow and Dudan could probably throw again if absolutely necessary. Then all hands on deck Saturday. You never manage the staff on the idea you might have to play Monday. Win the game in front of you.

Great game. Took care of business. Dudan only at 30 pitches so he's available the rest of the weekend. Pretty much best case scenario you could have asked for tonight.
It's the regionals man. If he needs to go 15 pitches Friday and 20 on Saturday he can come back for an inning or 2 on Sunday if needed.

Exactly it's the regionals. Don't give Bryant even an ounce of hope to come back. He only threw 30 pitches. We'll see him again this weekend

It's just bad usage of your of one of your best arms. Use him to get out of the jam and go to someone else. It makes no sense from an analytical point of view.
There were so many upsets today and a bunch more near upsets. I'm happy to get the w. Duden pitched but only 30 pitches so at least he was efficient for 3. No need to screw around and get too cute.
He was at 15 pitches with a 9-2 lead. Great time to get him out and keep him at a very efficient 15 for the night and keep your options open with him. We absolutely did not need to put another 15 pitches on him. Pick your guy out of the pen and they can hold a 9-2 lead against Bryant in the 9th.
