Gabriella Broadfoot and Maddy Zampardo of the NC State women's tennis team fell to UCLA's Theadora Rabman and Tatum Evans, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship. The tandem has finished the fall slate with a 14-3 record.

Broadfoot and Zampardo dropped the first set, 6-2. The duo fought back in the second set to force a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, both sides went toe-to-toe until the UCLA pair closed things out with a 7-5 edge in extra play.

The Pack's run in the NCAA Single and Double Championships and fall play has come to an end. The 2025 spring season schedule will be announced at a later date.

Michaela Laki (UTR 10.49) of Greece has signed with @PackWTennis and will join NC State for the spring of 2025. The 19-year-old has an ITF juniors career-high ranking of #9, winning 10 titles. Also has WTA career-high rankings of #466 in singles and #635 in doubles, winning seven $15K titles.

Makes sense that we added another to the roster for Spring 2025, as we currently only had 7 on the roster (after adding Laki, we have 8). Most teams have at least 8. Of course, you need a minimum of 6 players for each dual, and you ideally want a couple more than that to account for potential injuries. By the way, I haven't seen any official word, but I believe that Anna Zyryanova might be back from injury and able to compete by this coming January. I was walking around campus about 3 weeks ago and stopped by the tennis stadium and saw the team practicing and she was out there walking around and practicing her serve. But she was not doing anything beyond that, such as hitting groundstrokes with the other players. So it appears she is slowly recovering to whatever injury it was to her lower leg. Hopefully it was just an ankle sprain.

More on this new recruit, Michaela Laki. She is currently 19 years old, and will turn 20 in March of 2025. She reached a career-high singles ranking of #466 in the world in November of 2023, and per the Parsa Bombs tweet she apparently has a career-high UTR of 10.49. That UTR is on par with many of the current top 20 players in the D1 singles rankings. I'm not the biggest tennis expert, but just based on her career-high WTA and UTR rankings, I think she has the potential to be a very good player on the collegiate level, perhaps a top 15-25 player in D1 this spring (not a prediction, but just saying she appears to have that potential). I would go out on a limb and say she will probably be playing #1 singles for us in a few months.

Perhaps this speaks to her potential, as famous coach Patrick Mouratoglou posted a video on his YT channel of a coaching session with her a couple years ago:

Only about 4-5 weeks away from the beginning of the team competition season. The Spring 2025 schedule has not been released, but based on the schedule of previous years, looks like they will start dual match play in mid January.

Video released yesterday...Anna Zyryanova appears to be back to full practice.

The NC State women's tennis team has revealed its 2025 spring schedule, as announced by the program and head coach Simon Earnshaw on Wednesday.

NC State will open the spring slate at the Miami Invitational in Coral Gables, Florida from January 10-12.

The Pack will then open its home slate by hosting Campbell on January 18 at 2 p.m. before playing host to Pepperdine on Sunday, Jan. 19 at noon.

NC State is set to hit the road for three straight weeks, starting with the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Knoxville, Tennessee from Jan. 24-25. The Pack will play Ohio State and then face either host Tennessee or Texas Tech. Following its trip to Tennessee, the Pack will travel to the Lone Star State for duals against Texas (Jan. 31) and SMU (Feb. 2). The Pack will wrap up the roadstand with the ITA National Indoors in Evanston and Champaign, Illinois from Feb. 7-10

The Pack will be back at home to host Michigan on Friday, Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. and will have an off weekend before traveling to Louisville (Feb. 28) and Notre Dame (March 2). NC State will return home to play Virginia Tech (March 7) and Virginia (March 9 at 2 p.m.).

Staying in the triangle area, the Pack plays at Duke (March 21) and North Carolina (March 23) with a return home to host Clemson (March 28 at 3 p.m.) and Georgia Tech (March 30 at noon).

The Pack will travel to the Sunshine State for the second time of the season, playing at Florida State (April 4) and Miami (April 6). NC State will then finish the regular season with matches against California (April 11 at 3 p.m.) and a doubleheader on April 13 at home with Stanford at 1 p.m. and ECU at 5 p.m.

Postseason play will start with the ACC Tournament from April 16-20 in Cary. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament are set for May 2-4 with NCAA Super Regionals taking place the following week from May 9-10. The NCAA National Championship is set for May 15-18 in Waco, Texas, the same spot of the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship that took place this fall.
