Eighteen tackles, not the result y'all wanted, but what was your mentality going out there and going out there.
Honestly, definitely not the outcome we wanted. Gotta go back and look at myself in the mirror and do what I can to help out my team. And really just, with this game, they kind of did some things to mess with our rules. So definitely get back in the lab, go to our coaches and see what we can do better as a defense. And really just move on now; gotta swallow that pill. Definitely not the outcome we wanted, as I said, but I believe in Coach Doeren, I believe in Coach Eliot, what we got going on. It's nothing; I kind of felt like this is something we needed, and now we gotta attack it even harder.
From your perspective, why did their quarterback have such success taking off on his own?
Good player, we expected that, but we didn't expect as much QB run from him. As I said, played with our rules a lot, great player, and had a good game. As I said, we gotta attack ourselves, and it's really just — I put everything on me. And what can I do better to help out my team? And really just, cuz we got a great group of guys; these guys are hungry, these guys are very good. And like I said, just getting back in the lab and seeing what we can do better, because now we got 11 more games to play.
How do you improve or do more? Is it more of a leadership sort of aspect or on the field that you specifically wanna do?
It's both, and it starts off tomorrow, being there, recovering, and having everybody up there, and now we get in there and watch film. And like I said, it's one of those things, you gotta look yourself in the mirror, and put your hand on the other guy's now. And as I said, we got a great group of guys. CJ, I got his back; he got mine. And we all know that that's the best quarterback. We just gotta back him up. And it's a rainy day, but we're gonna get back on top of it now, amongst all of us.
