Won 3 of the top 6 singles matches (and 4 of 7 overall, as Conway played what was effectively a #7 singles match) against Vanderbilt today, who is currently ranked #21 in the country.

The newcomer Laki must not be on this trip to Miami. She's not been in some of the warmup videos shown on the official social media. I remember that when Shnaider joined the team it was at the beginning of the spring 2023 semester and she missed the first few dual competitions in January because of some holdup with the NCAA processing her eligibility or whatnot. So I wonder if something similar is going on with Laki.

I think they played Zyryanova lower in the singles order (even though there apparently is not an official ranking/order on the singles matches at this Miami event) the past two days, since she is coming off an injury and these are the first matches she has played in many months.

Once they get Laki in the lineup (assuming at the #1 singles spot) and Zyryanova is back to top form, I think Zyryanova will probably end up at #2 singles, and this will be a formidable team.

They have a big match coming up next weekend (Sunday, January 19th @ 12:00 Noon) at home against #10 ranked Pepperdine.

I don't think so. I looked through the qualifying results at the Australian Open and don't see where she played. Her current WTA ranking is 634, so she's almost certainly nowhere near highly ranked enough to even make the qualification rounds at a major. She's played some events in November and December of 2024, so she's probably not injured right now.

The No. 14 Wolfpack women's tennis team will host its first weekend of home matches of the season as they face Campbell on Friday, January 17, at 6 p.m., followed by a showdown with No. 10 Pepperdine on Sunday, January 19, at noon. Both matches will be held at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

Competition this weekend will be held indoors, and admission to both matches is free. Fans can follow live match results on StatBroadcast, and the matches will be available for streaming on Track Tennis.

    Scouting Campbell:

This will be the Camels' second dual match of the season, following a tough 0-7 loss to No. 6 North Carolina on January 12 in Chapel Hill. The last time these two programs faced off was during the Wolfpack's 2023-24 season at home in Raleigh, where NC State secured a dominant 7-0 victory. The Wolfpack currently lead the all-time series 4-0, with each meeting resulting in a sweep.

    Scouting Pepperdine:

No. 10 ranked Pepperdine is set to open its season in Durham, N.C. as they face off against No. 11 Duke Friday, Jan. 17. The waves will then travel to Raleigh for a Sunday showdown against the Wolfpack. This will be the third competition between the two programs with Pepperdine leading the series by 2-0. Pepperdine begins it's 2025 season with several highly ranked players in their rotation. In singles, Savannah Broadus leads the team at No. 13, followed by Vivian Yang at No. 61, Liam Oved at No. 90, Duru Soke at No. 91, and Alexia Harmon at No. 112. In doubles, Broadus and Yang form a formidable pair, ranked No. 14, while Oved and Harmon are ranked No. 101. These rankings highlight Pepperdine's depth and talent across both singles and doubles, positioning the team as a competitive matchup Sunday.

Laki played #1 singles tonight against Campbell. That's a good indication that she will be a good player for us this year, to immediately take the #1 spot. Zyryanova played #2 singles.

Big match against #10 ranked Pepperdine at home in two days, Sunday at 12:00 noon.
