I suspect it's more complicated than that. Bessent has desperately tried to prevent a Treasury sell-off. For those who wonder why we've shipped OUR petroleum overseas instead of using it to suppress fuel prices at home, I think it's involved somehow with that particular goal. Turkey for example, early on, sold their Treasuries first, then their gold to ensure imports of critical matriels caused by the Persian Gulf conflict.

Dave, I think a fair amount of us would appreciate a truly free trade with other countries; however, matching reciprocal tariffs are something I have no issue with doing.

i was talking (online) with a gentleman about a category of products I have as a hobby and he said his country had a 60% tariff on goods from the US. He said it has always been that high as long as he can remember.

So, I'm not one that supports an unhealthy arrangement with another country. On that, you and I probably disagree.
