I'm in no way saying I know what the right move would have been. I do think faster pitches work better in big games. Easy to say when the other starts is throwing mid 90s and strikes.

How can you still have a job when you're 0-8 in championship games? Bulk of those losses are to your rival. Avent is synonymous with loser.

0-7 right now. Still 5 innings of baseball to play. Amazing accomplishment to be in the game so often…still gotta win one at some point.

I just don't think there's any blame to place is all. The tarholes are literally the hottest team in the country. And there are only two guys playing this year from last years team…so i just don't think you can judge it that way year to year. Not to mention our best pitcher on this team is sitting in the dugout and has been most of the season. I certainly don't think pointing out short coming makes anyone a bad fan. But coming on here simply to say Avent sucks and so does the team…isn't very additive.

Anyone complaining about pitching staff management is completely resulting.

There were no obvious or clearly superior strategies this deep in this tourney. Pitch your better pitchers on short rest or throw your less dynamic arms on more rest.

Both are suboptimal and to say you'd rather have taken the opposite approach to throwing your stronger arm on short rest is all hindsight fallacy at this point.

Because he has been here 28yrs now. Not going to fire Avent but they sure as hell better not expect a championship of any kind from him either. Once he retires, hope will be restored for winning something significant.

Putting Villaman in a 9-1 game and him getting injured is 100% on Avent

I disagree. If his arm is ok and he can give you 40-50 pitches or 2-3 innings then it keeps us in the game.
Now you take him out and see if he can get that blister cut before the regiobal

Would love to see it. This team making a Super Regional would be a great feat as they are so young and without the staff All American Friday starter. Hell, making the game today is a testament to the team and coaching staff, considering.

Keep us in the game? Its like 9-1 man. If you were cool with him going long, might as well have just started him.

He's fine. It's a cut, not a long term arm injury. Got a week to heel up, they will take him out if it's not right.
