Whatever. We didn't hire him for his character. But don't say you have what you need, ya d*ck. He can float on down the river with his built in inflatable.

At some point when this all settles I'd love to hear the full story. I'm sure this started in February. I'd love to piece together this puzzle in a forensic sense.

For now though my focus is what are we going to do for a coach and a roster? Because you have to act fast. We don't have players holding over anymore. There may not be a single player on NC State's roster right now. Sure "officially" there are... but in reality, you might have to find 10 players along with an entire staff.

Our NIL money in these threads has been all over the place.

I've seen posts suggesting anywhere from $8m to $12m on our roster this year.
Heard we were top 5 in NIL during the season, and there's no chance $8m is top 5.

Wish there was just an inkling of transparency here, haha.

$12m and finishing 7th in the ACC is pretty bad, given it's top 5 in the conference.
$8m and finishing 7th in the ACC is what I would expect, given that would likely be middle of the road in the ACC.

We did not have 12 million. The most trusted person I know who has worked in the Athletic Department for years consistently heard somewhere between 9-10 with all sources. I still don't know how close to accurate that is. It's what makes this so frustrating. Donors might step forward if they knew we were at 9, UVA is at 12, UNC at 14 and DUke at 17. But with all the secrecy, there is really no way to make a logical case (which is to what most NC State fans would react the most positively )

Hopefully we can find his replacement swiftly and not be behind in the portal. X and O wise I fell confident we can do better that WW, this season was not impressive from a coaching perspective. Hopefully the same $ that we offered Wade will be there for his replacement

Might be a business but it's a shnitty business model. If I could buy stock I'd short it.

Im still in shock. Can't believe it only lasted a year. Back to searching for a coach in the same timeline as unc. What a nightmare.

The firm point for us is...NIL transparency moving forward, as this fanbase is not suited to fund anything from the shadows.

Two things important for our fanbase that may be a little counterintuitive:

1) Do not let him and his camp perpetuate the myth that he didn't have the resources needed to compete. He got arguably the most sought after player in the portal and several other dudes that weren't cheap. There are a lot of coaches out there who could have delivered last season's results, if not better, with the resources in place. The man said himself he had everything needed to win big here and it was the best job he's ever had. DO NOT LET THE FALSE NARRATIVE GAIN OXYGEN when he's going back to a place that fired him and a short while ago would've said was a worse job and basketball situation than what we have in Raleigh.

2) it is also incumbent upon us to collectively step up and make sure that aforementioned myth becomes reality. If you care about this program and have the means to do so, we need to provide our financial support REGARDLESS of who the coach is. It won't make a big difference, but I plan on bumping my monthly payment directed to basketball.

Our program is so much bigger than one person, and NC State basketball will survive. Hell, less than two years ago many of us were packing our bags for Phoenix to watch a team in the Final Four that had comparatively fewer financial resources relative to the competition than we had last year with a coach who understandably was ultimately relieved of his duties.

We have a rich basketball tradition that we can continue to build on - and there are a lot of guys out there who can be successful in this job with our collective support.

Keatts made a Final Four with less than 3 million. I bet he could have gotten out of Dayton this year with 9.7. He would have also represented NC State with class for one more year.

Keatts had no revenue share. Rev share started this year. All schools had bigger budgets this year. So it is all relative. $3 Keatts last year equates to what Wade had this year except if any increase in NIL. Any increase in NIL would be credit to the coaching change.

No it does not equate. Duke was already spending a lot two years ago, so was UNC. Our rev share number was only 4 this year. So if Keatts had 2.7 and you add 4 that's 6.7. There is still a 3 million dollar gap that our big money donors came up with for Wade. I think Keatts could have done about the same THIS year with 9.7. Since we wasted a year with Wade, it was interesting to think about.

And kept McNeil on the bench because he wasn't "ready" and relied on studs like RJ Greer. KK is gone, stop fighting that losing battle.

How?

This scenario was literally discussed last April when he was hired.

Ask James, I bet he never believed Wade would be here for very long.

What a dick. I realize it's everyone for themselves nowadays, but man, one year? What about all the fans that gave money to support him? What about shops that spent money on Wade merchandise? What about some basic sense of responsibility for the job you chose to undertake? My general enthusiasm for big college sports is waning anyway, and this just reinforces that. I guess we at least get that extra 2 mil. Hooray.
cmchnnr
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Agree. It's a tough game to win and it's not fair, but you have to play to win or not play. Ideal world, need to figure out a way where it's not driven by donors but driven by the athletic department revenue. Not sure how you do that.

Brother, not matching LSU doesn't make us cheap. Wade hade between 10-12 million. More than enough to compete. ****, multiple teams in the sweet 16 had lower NIL.

It's not about THIS year.

Do we have enough to compete next year, when the price is just going up, especially after an underwhelming year.

I don't know the answer to that, but knowing how we give to other sports with this "prove it and earn it" mentality I wouldn't be surprised

Hell Wes Moore is the most has proved it and earned it coach we have, and even he doesn't get what he deserves.

This is not blaming fans. This is the harsh reality.

Take just one day off from the we don't have money ***** Just one day.

Why? It's literally what sports is about these days. Good lord man. It's ok. It's reality.

I'm not belittling or blaming anyone

There's tons of layers to this.

And what did I say was wrong?

Because you're just repeating something everyone already knows.

Yea idk because it's a very important part to the why IMO.

Again not sure why you are mad at me ha!

I'm not mad at you at all and you have every right to post. Sorry.

I'm not fighting any battle I'm just stating that we essentially wasted a year we're at the same spot as if we had kept him for one more year and if we had given him 9.7 or $12 million his results would've been a lot different. My original point was this was a waste of time

I bet the fan base will rally around a new name in spite of Wade. It doesn't take a genius to finish 7th in the ACC and lose in the first 4 after all.

Schertz? Gainey? another name?
