Devil's advocate on the buyout. Imagine we did not hire Wade. Later on it comes out that it came down to a low buyout amount and Boo refused to give in. Our fans would have gone nuts

I have set back and watched this play out, but now here goes. What a piece of crap WW is to only be here 1 year and bolt, while our donors worked with you to finically get you what you ask for. Then during your last few weeks with the young men you coached you started to call them out for their lack of effort, but maybe the lack of effort came from the staff because they were checked out due to outside factors! I don't wish you well in your next stop, because you should have NEVER done a touch and go, but now your true colors are on for the world to see at our basketball programs expense!!

He wasn't very impressive in the Xs and Os category. I was underwhelmed with his late game coaching where we struggled to in bound the ball and break pressure. Getting blown out in multiple games and playing down to terrible teams.

WW is a con man *****. Good riddance.

We have no idea what his floor was. That could have been his ceiling.

but we had an awful season this year! It was so awful!

I love our school and programs as much as everyone else, but we have been irrelevant for 35 years minus a 3 week stretch until WW.

Winning is the sure fire way to become relevant but since we haven't done that in again, 35 years, sorry for not being confident we will just hire some up and comer who actually figures it out big time.

WW was never all in here in Raleigh. He never wanted to be here. We were always a paycheck until LSU got the band back together. They were probably thinking 2yrs in Raleigh but the timeline changed. Good riddance. We were played like a fiddle.

Two things important for our fanbase that may be a little counterintuitive:

1) Do not let him and his camp perpetuate the myth that he didn't have the resources needed to compete. He got arguably the most sought after player in the portal and several other dudes that weren't cheap. There are a lot of coaches out there who could have delivered last season's results, if not better, with the resources in place. The man said himself he had everything needed to win big here and it was the best job he's ever had. We have a rich basketball tradition that we can continue to build on - and there are a lot of guys out there who can be successful in this job with our collective support.

Keatts made a Final Four with less than 3 million. I bet he could have gotten out of Dayton this year with 9.7. He would have also represented NC State with class for one more year.

Keatts had no revenue share. Rev share started this year. All schools had bigger budgets this year. So it is all relative. $3 Keatts last year equates to what Wade had this year except if any increase in NIL. Any increase in NIL would be credit to the coaching change.

Did it end up being an elite level? No. We did show our passion and we sold more basketball tickets and started some great things like Cornerstone thanks to Steve and all of his hard work. We are still behind at least 6-7 schools in the ACC currently.

ehh that's not quite right. most carpetbaggers had good intentions (not all, obviously). Wade would have been something much, much worse.

I hope for the remainder of his time in Raleigh, all businesses refuse to serve him and his family. Moving company refuses to move his ***** Tuck your tail little Willie! Good luck in America's armpit!

Yea we have people thinking we are elite now with funding. He just got us to not be cheap but we still have a long way to go.

Let's be clear….. this is a WW personal character problem. No prideful man cowards down to the dollar and returns to the place that fired him and tried to ruin his career. Are we sure that was Wade's floor? Because he got behind a mic and said so? Knowing what's going down now, what reason do you have to believe this?

I do think Wade is a good coach and his attitude fit here at State, but I also realize he's never been past the S16, even being "ahead of the curve" funding his program at LSU.

How did our admin not know?

If we want to play with the big boys, we gotta pay like the big boys. Can't blame him for wanting to go somewhere that gives him full control and plenty of funding. He has nobody else to compete with in La. in terms of basketball. It will always be an uphill battle at NC State, and he'll wont necessarily be able to buy top talent over Duke and UNC. He can go to LSU and coach draft picks.
The hard part is just how hyped the fan base was, and his whole demeanor led us on big time. Now we all have blue balls

Couple thoughts:

1. Did we get the actual results we wanted this year his roster building?
2. Was this year's team 1 we are wanting with as many T's we had and our on-court body language?
3. I'm not sure Wade was happy with the NCSU academic requirements compared to SEC/LSU.
4. We can do better and will get a coach who is wanting to coach basketball at NCSU.

This is why I think the move will be Gainey.

Invest in one of our guys and know that he's not going to turn around and bite us in a year or two like Wade did.

Well... the portal opens next week? And since we now have a coaching change late than we probably have zero players on the roster and zero players going into the portal looking at us. So.... if you don't have a plan or have a coach ready quickly then at what point do you just not field a team next year? I mean seriously if we are scrapping around for leftover scrub type players this is going to be like 1993 all over again.
