Multiple sources have confirmed that NC State head coach Will Wade will leave after one season and accept the head coaching job at LSU, whenever it becomes available in the near future.

Wade posted a 20-14 record in his lone season at NC State, finishing 10-8 in the ACC with a loss to Texas in the First Four of the NCAA Tournament.

"I'm sure there's a guy out there that still has that attachment to the place. I think that would be a start. If we want these kids to stick around, how do you I don't know, it just blows my mind that that's how that all went down. But I think he did them a favor."



That is awesome . Somebody make sure Wade sees that quote .

I'd pay good money to see Rod check ole Grimace Wade into the boards .

I have not read all the posts on all the threads, but the rumor that I am hearing is that we got scammed royally by Wade. Sold his house in Louisiana for $100 when he left McNeese State and purchased it back in late February of this year. Never planned to coach at State for more than one year. We got used by Wade….

James I heard some former Nc State asst coaches were not impressed with it staff.

If a Corp Manager or Coach turns over his complete Staff- the Problem is with the Head Man.

$100 was a transfer fee someone said on socials. But cant wait when that house closes to see who the owner is.

It looks to me that he put home in LLC/Trust in 2023 selling for $150 handled by the Olivier family. There have been Olivier family members living I that home since that time.

My guess is they did this to protect the home while NCAA trial was underway from being part of any punishment…look I have no assets.

The home was originally owned by Olivier family dating back to the 70s. The Olivier family run a Wealth Management firm (managing about 350M in assets) in BR and big donors to LSU.

Rick Barnes was not part of that search... maybe Fowler screwed up with him years prior but I don't remember. When we whiffed on Miller and Shaka she panicked and had to go get out of work Gott. Which given the disaster that was at the time we actually did pretty well for a bit there.

Thanks, I knew that was the gist, just couldn't provide the details. LOL, when you hire the "Gottfather", you had to suspect there was something going on with him. But you're right, we had some hellacious wins on his tenure including the night we held UNC to a record low 49 points in the Dean Dome.

Right, we had reached the point where basically everyone had turned down the job publicly, even people like Phil Ford who weren't even contacted about the job. Debbie wrote a dismal letter to the fans outlining the current state which made it sound like there wasn't a coach in America that would touch our job. Next day she hires Gott.

Yes, DY wanted Shaka. She knew the Miller family would never work for her, the same reason Archie avoided State when she hired KK. Shaka was never really in play. Equal parts DY reputation and the reputation of State fans.

Rick Barnes was not part of that search... maybe Fowler screwed up with him years prior but I don't remember. When we whiffed on Miller and Shaka she panicked and had to go get out of work Gott. Which given the disaster that was at the time we actually did pretty well for a bit there.


Yes, DY wanted Shaka. She knew the Miller family would never work for her, the same reason Archie avoided State when she hired KK. Shaka was never really in play. Equal parts DY reputation and the reputation of State fans.


From what I recall, Sean was the first choice the Shaka year.
