- The NC State men's tennis team (10-5, 1-4 ACC) fell to sixth-ranked Wake Forest (20-4, 4-0 ACC), 5-2, on Thursday.

DOUBLES RECAP
Play was close across the three doubles courts, but it was Wake Forest that was able to come away with the point.

Matthew Thomson and Jakob Schnaitter defeated Collin Shick and Yannai Barkai, 6-3, on court three before Jurabek Karimov and Siddhant Banthia defeated No. 15 Martins Rocens and Fons Van Sambeek on court two in a 6-4 decision.

SINGLES RECAP
Despite dropping five first sets, the Pack was able to come back and force third sets on the three of the courts.

Wake Forest got a singles win first with Melios Efstathiou's 6-3, 6-4 defeat of Luca Staeheli. He was followed minutes later by Rrezart Cungu's 6-4, 6-4 win over Damien Salvestre.

Court five saw Schnaitter put the match away for the Demon Deacons with his 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 win over Van Sambeek.

No. 88 Robin Catry was the first member of the Wolfpack with a singles win as he gutted out a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 defeat of No. 53 Nava.

The Demon Deacons struck back with Siddhant Banthia's 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over Braden Shick.

Rafa Izquierdo Luque got the final win of the day on court win with a takedown of No. 78 Karimov by a score of 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.

STRAIGHT FROM THE PACK: HEAD COACH KYLE SPENCER
"Tough match against another quality team," said head coach Kyle Spencer. "I thought the guys played with passion and the right relaxed intensity. In the end, Wake Forest did a better job of closing out tough sets, so credit to them. We will learn from this and continue to get better.

The NC State men's tennis team charted a top-20 win on Monday, defeating No. 20 Northwestern in a 4-2 decision.

The win is the Pack's third over a top-25 opponent this season.

DOUBLES RECAP
In the early portions of the contest, Northwestern struck first to claim the initial edge.

On court three, the pair of Trice Pickens and Natan Spear defeated Collin Shick and Yannai Barkai, 6-0. A 6-4 decision favoring Simen Bratholm and Brian Berdusco over NC State's 15th-ranked Martins Rocens and Fons Van Sambeek on court two resulted in the 1-0 team score lead for the Wildcats.

SINGLES RECAP
After dropping the doubles point, the Wolfpack responded by rattling off three-straight singles wins.

Rocens tied the overall match score with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Thieneman. The junior used critical breakpoints in both sets to propel him to victory.

Luca Staeheli gave NC State the lead with a win over Bratholm, 6-4, 6-1. After winning the first set on a break, Staeheli cruised in the second set.

Following right behind Staeheli was Damien Salvestre, who secured the third team point in a row with a 6-0, 6-4 defeat of Berdusco. After blanking his opponent in the first set, Salvestre carried the momentum into the second set with two breaks in his victory.

Northwestern answered with a 6-2, 6-3 win by #67 Steven Forman against Rafa Izquierdo Luque on court one.

Freshman Van Sambeek was clinched the match for the Wolfpack with the deciding 6-4, 7-6(2) outcome versus Felix Nordby. The Veldhoven, Netherlands, native tallied five straight points in the tiebreaker to clinch the 4-2 final team score.

STRAIGHT FROM THE PACK: HEAD COACH KYLE SPENCER
"Happy for the guys to get a good win at home in front of Wolfpack Nation!" said head coach Kyle Spencer. "Not the performance we're used to in doubles, but I thought we played with determination, focus and joy in singles. It's a busy week, but we are excited for every challenge and are looking forward to Wednesday vs. South Carolina."

The NC State men's tennis team defeated No. 6 South Carolina in a 4-1 on Wednesday, defeating the Gamecocks for the first time since 2016.

The win is the Pack's first over a top-10 opponent since it defeated then-No. 4 Texas in March of 2020.

DOUBLES RECAP
Doubles competition was a battle on all three courts. NC State was the first team with a win as Collin Shick and Fons Van Sambeek defeated Jake Beasley and Toby Samuel, 6-3. South Carolina got a doubles win of their own on court two with Raphael Lambling and James Story's 6-2 win over Braden Shick and Damien Salvestre.

In a top-20 battle on court one, No. 19 Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli came out victorious. The duo gutted out a 7-5 win over 13th-ranked Daniel Rodrigues and Connor Thomson.

SINGLES RECAP
The squad opened singles with the team-score advantage, but South Carolina evened things up with No. 3 Rodrigues' 6-1, 6-3 win over No. 82 Rafa Izquierdo Luque.

NC State struck back as Staeheli defeated Thomson 7-5, 6-1 on court three. He was followed moments later by Martins Rocens' 7-5, 6-3 win over Lambling. Rocens' match put NC State one win away from clinching the victory.

No. 108 Catry sealed the NC State win with a gutsy victory on court two. He defeated 57th-ranked Samuel in a three-set 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-3 decision to clinch the Pack's fifth top-25 win of the season.

STRAIGHT FROM THE PACK: HEAD COACH KYLE SPENCER
"Great win today for the guys," said head coach Kyle Spencer. "I'm so proud of them and happy for our program. South Carolina has become one of the nation's elite, and to have them on the schedule and at home and pull off such a big win is super exciting. Doubles has been not our best over the last few matches, and I'm excited that we rectified that a little bit today.

"Just big battles on every court in singles. I thought the guys did a really good job of seizing those first sets. Robin's opponent, Toby Samuel, is such a warrior out there and didn't let us have that second set in the match. Robin had to dig deep in the third, and I'm really proud of the way he closed it out. It was a total team effort. I'm really excited for where we're starting to go with our young squad and am excited to get back into ACC play.

"It's a big week with four matches, but the guys are really excited and looking forward to all those matches. Just want to say thank you to Wolfpack Nation that came out today and gave us a huge boost, especially the men's soccer team. Just another great win for the guys and a great day for the Wolfpack. Go Pack!"
