Members of the NC State men's tennis team opened competition at the ITA Carolina Regional on Friday, competing in singles and collecting 14 total wins.

Eight members of the Wolfpack won their first-round matches, moving on to the afternoon's round of 64, and three of those who competed in the second round moved on to the third.

Fons Van Sambeek claimed the first victory of the day for NC State, sweeping Josiah Schainblatt of The Citadel 6-0, 6-0. He was followed in the win by Braden Shick, who took down Charlotte's Luke Thomson 6-2, 6-0. Shick went on to win his second-round matchup against Mark Endler (Western Carolina) 6-3, 6-0/

Martins Rocens and Joseph Wayand recorded wins in the first round as well with Rocens defeating Daniel Ozernoy (UNCW) 7-5, 6-0 and Wayand taking down Furman's Drew Singerman 6-0, 6-1.

Luca Staeheli competed against SCSU's Luka Stefanovic, coming away with the 6-1, 6-2 victory, and the sophomore posted a second-round 7-5, 7-5 win over Charlotte's Coy Simon. Junior Robin Catry posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Vasil Ivanov of NC A&T before taking down Campbell's Leon Petko 6-3, 6-2 to secure a third-round berth.

Rounding out the first-round singles wins on the day were Damien Salvestre and Collin Shick's victories. Salvestre tabbed a quick 6-1, 6-0 win over UNCW's Ignacio Sandoval to move to the second round while Shick got his win over Alex Horn of Western Carolina by a score of 6-2, 6-2.

Salvestre claimed victory in the third round as well, defeating College of Charleston's Matias Gaedechens soundly in a 6-0, 6-1 decision.

In the consolation bracket, both Yannai Barkai and Joseph Schrader recorded wins. Barkai posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Roger Rogowski (UNCG) and Schrader tabbed a 6-2, 3-6, 1-0(6) win against Juan Camilo Gongora of Davidson.

Members of the NC State men's tennis team continued action at the ITA Carolina Regional on Saturday, competing in singles and beginning doubles action.

Singles was on deck first, but the Wolfpack was not able to post a win in the main draw. Braden Shick took No. 16 Connor Thomson of South Carolina to three sets, but ultimately Shick fell 6-4, 4-6, 4-6.

In the consolation singles bracket, Yannai Barkai defeated UNCW's Davide Innocenti 7-6(3), 6-4 to move on to the next round.

Doubles proved to be successful for NC State with just one loss in nine matches. Fons Van Sambeek and Martins Rocens put up a pair of wins, first defeating Javier Matos and Nicholas McKinney (Presbyterian) 6-2, 6-2 before taking down fifth-seeded Jake Beasley and Raphael Lambling of South Carolina 7-6(5), 6-3.

Robin Catry and Damien Salvestre tabbed two-straight wins as well. The pair got the 6-2, 6-3 win over Campbell's Robin Angles and Ted Williams and followed it with a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Bastien Huon and Niccolo Rossi (Coastal Carolina).

Barkai and Luca Staeheli's first doubles win of the day was over Omer Gorgun and Benjamin Niv of SCSU by a score of 4-6, 6-2, 1-0(7). Their next match resulted in a 6-1, 6-3 win over College of Charleston's Andre Limon and Robby Krick.

The final two-win doubles pair on the day was made up of Joseph Schrader and Joseph Wayand. The duo put away a match against Hayden Shoemake and Josiah Schainblatt of The Citadel 6-3, 6-4 before moving on to defeat eight-seed Taha Baadi and Filippo Moroni (Wake Forest) 7-5, 6-3.

The NC State men's tennis continued competition at the ITA Carolina Regional on Sunday, posting a singles wins and a pair of doubles wins on the day.

Fons Van Sambeek and Martins Rocens recorded a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Ryuhei Azuma and Teodor Giusca of Clemson to secure a spot in the doubles quarterfinals. Van Sambeek and Rocens will compete against the one-seed in their quarterfinal matchup, No. 29 Brian Cernoch and Mac Kiger (North Carolina).

Another Wolfpack doubles pair tabbed a berth in the quarterfinals as well as Yannai Barkai and Luca Staeheli defeated Diego Giraldo and Federico Garnier (Coastal Carolina) 1-6, 6-3, 1-0(10). Barkai and Staeheli's next matchup will see them face off against Charlotte's Coy Simon and Stefanos Savva.

In the consolation singles bracket, Yannai Barkai took down Campbell's Robin Angles 6-1, 6-3.
