Six members of the NC State men's tennis team will represent the Wolfpack at the 2021 ITA All-American Championships, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Monday. All six men will compete in singles action at the tournament.

Freshman Luca Staeheli and junior Rafa Izquierdo Luque tabbed spots in the qualifying singles draw while Robin Catry, Yannai Barkai, Damien Salvestre and Braden Shick will play in prequalifying singles matches.

Men's prequalifying action runs Saturday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 3 while the qualifying play takes place Monday, Oct. 4 through Tuesday, Oct. 5. Match schedules will be released at a later date.

The NC State men's tennis team finished competition at the Gator Fall Invite on Sunday, competing against UCF.

The Wolfpack began the day with a sweep of the Knights in doubles play. Robin Catry and Damien Salvestre paired up to get a quick 8-3 win over Bogdan Pavel and JC Roddick, and Martins Rocens and Collin Shick claimed victory over Kento Yamada and Bryan Triana, 8-6. Fons Van Sambeek and Braden Shick took down Quinn Snyder and Cooper White by the widest margin of victory with their 8-2 win.

In singles, Catry recorded his second win of the Gator Fall Invite with an easy 6-2, 6-1 victory over Trey Hilderbrand.

Braden Shick posted a win by retirement over a ranked opponent, No. 88 Yamada, when the score was 4-6, 6-3, 4-1 in Shick's favor.

Rocens' first singles win of the weekend came against Pavel, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, and Van Sambeek earned a 7-6(1), 6-4 victory over Triana.

The NC State men's tennis squad is set to continue its fall 2021 season at the Cary ATP Challenger Sept. 14-17 with three members of the squad competing. Luca Staeheli tabbed a wildcard spot in the singles main draw while Damien Salvestre and Robin Catry claimed a wildcard berth in doubles play.

Former member of the Wolfpack Alexis Galarneau began action at the event Sunday, Sept. 12 in the singles qualifying round, and current volunteer assistant coach Alex Lawson is slated to compete with Robert Galloway as the three-seed in doubles competition.

Staeheli will begin his Cary ATP Challenger campaign with a matchup against Mukund Sasikumar, who is currently 392nd in singles. Salvestre and Catry are scheduled to begin doubles action with a matchup against the fourth-seeded duo of Christian Harrison and Dennis Novikov.

Three members of the NC State men's tennis program competed at the Cary ATP Challenger on Tuesday, falling in their respective opening matches.

Freshmen Luca Staeheli made a good showing in his singles match, taking Mukund Saskimar to a third set but ultimately falling in a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 decision.

Robin Catry and Damien Salvestre took on the fourth-seeded doubles pair in the tournament, competing against Christian Harrison and Dannis Novikov. Catry and Salvestre made a strong effort in the match but were defeated 6-3, 6-4.

The NC State men's tennis program completed action at the Duke Bonk Invitational on Sunday, coming home with a win by Robin Catry in the singles A draw final and a third-place finish by Fons Van Sambeek and Collin Shick in the doubles A draw.

FRIDAY'S MATCHES
The Wolfpack brought home five wins on the first day of action at the tournament with Catry and Joseph Schrader posting singles victories.

Catry defeated North Carolina's Logan Zapp 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the singles A draw quarterfinals while fourth-seeded Schrader moved into the C draw quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Elon's Ben Zipay.

The duo of Van Sambeek and Shick slotted a win in the quarterfinals of the doubles A draw on Friday, defeating Kyle Frankel and Camilo Ponce of Elon 6-2.

SATURDAY'S MATCHES
Catry tabbed his second and third wins of the tournament on Saturday, defeating ETSU's Frazier Rengifo in a 6-1, 6-3 decision before getting the 6-1, 6-4 win over Josh Wilson of Liberty. The pair of wins sent Catry to Sunday's final.

Despite a loss on Friday, Martins Rocens posted a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Joaquim Almeida of VCU in the singles B draw quarterfinals on Saturday.

SUNDAY'S MATCHES
It was an easy 6-2, 6-3 win for Catry in the singles A draw final on Sunday over two-seed Sid Banthia (Wake Forest), and Rocens won his B draw consolation third place match against VCU's Gray Voelzke handily by a score of 6-1, 6-2.

Schrader claimed third place in the singles C draw with a victory by walkover, and Collin Shick took home third place on the consolation side of the bracket with a gutsy 7-5, 7-6(5) win over Zipay.

Four members of the NC State men's tennis team are slated to compete at the 2021 ITA All-American Championships. The tournament runs Oct. 2-10 and will be contested in Tulsa, Okla.

The NC State men's tennis program concluded ITA All-American Championships play on Sunday, a tournament at which the squad was represented by Yannai Barkai, Robin Catry, Rafa Izquierdo Luque and Luca Staeheli.

Play opened on Friday with prequalifying singles action. Barkai took on St. Joseph's Alp Sentay in his first-round matchup, battling hard throughout the match but ultimately falling in a 6-7(2), 7-6(5), 1-0(8) decision.

Action continued for the Pack on Monday with qualifying singles. Freshman Staeheli slated a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over David Stevenson of Memphis to advance to the second round of play.

The last match of the tournament was played on Tuesday when Staeheli took on No. 117 Daniel De Jonge (Pepperdine) in the second round. De Jonge took the match with a score of 6-3, 6-1.

The NC State men's tennis team continues its fall season Oct. 22-26 at the ITA Carolina Regional. The tournament is hosted by Duke and will be played at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.

Members of the squad will compete for automatic-qualifier bids in singles and doubles to the ITA Fall National Championships Nov. 4-7 in San Diego, Calif. The singles finalists and doubles champions from each region will tab the auto-bids for Fall Nationals.

Ten members of the team will compete, and all 10 are slated to compete in doubles and singles action. Singles play is set to begin Friday, Oct. 22 at 8:30am with matches scheduled throughout the day.
