History was made at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center Friday afternoon as senior Amelia Rajecki became the fourth women's tennis player in NC State history to reach 100 career wins in singles play. Her career milestone helped the Wolfpack earn a 4-3 victory over Miami.

Rajecki joins Adriana Reami (127), Anna Rogers (117), and Alana Smith (105) as the only players to reach the milestone.

Although the Wolfpack (17-6, 7-3) didn't secure the doubles point, they once again fought their way to four singles wins to beat the Hurricanes.

Anna Zyryanova kicked off the comeback with a straight-set victory on court three, winning 6-1, 6-2 over Antonia Balzert. Court four saw a similar result in Gina Dittmann cruising to a 6-2, 6-3 win after defeating Leonie Schuknecht.

In a back-and-forth affair, Abigail Rencheli fell on court two after being unable to force a third set. She dropped the second-set tiebreak to allow Miami to even the match.

The 100th win for Rajecki didn't come easy. Facing off with No. 14 Alexa Noel, she found herself down after the first set but battled in the second set to even the match with a 6- four victory. The set win propelled the Nottingham, England native to dominate the third set, winning 6-0 to put the Wolfpack up 3-2 in the match.

Winning her 13th match of the season was Maddy Zampardo, as the freshman clinched the fourth and final point for the Wolfpack. She defeated #104 Audrey Boch-Collins 6-4, 7-5, holding on for her fifth straight victory.

The Wolfpack now turn their attention to their final regular-season home match against Florida State on Sunday, April 7th, at noon. It is senior day, and the Wolfpack will recognize Sophie Abrams, Dittmann, Rajecki, and Rencheli before the match.

No. 15 Wolfpack women's tennis (17-7, 7-4) fell to No. 29 Florida State (14-6, 8-3) at home on Sunday 2-5 from the J.W. Isnehour Tennis Center.

Four seniors were recognized for their careers with the Wolfpack prior to the match. Sophie Abrams, Gina Dittmann, Amelia Rajecki, and Abigail Rencheli all saw their final regular-season match on the home court.

The Wolfpack started by grabbing the doubles point with a 6-4 win on court one from and a 6-3 win on court two with high hopes heading into singles play.

For only the fourth time this season, No. 5 Rajecki fell first in singles play, 2-6, 2-6 to No. 46 Vic Allen.

On court six, Abrams put the Pack ahead in the match, winning 7-5, 6-2, for her 79th win at NC State and 91st overall in her career.

The win on court six was the only singles win the Wolfpack would see, as the Seminoles won in straight sets on courts five, four, and two.

Anna Zyryanova looked to add a third point for the Wolfpack and a win to her name after forcing a third-set 10-point tiebreaker following a 7-6 (6-8) win in the second set. In the lengthy tiebreaker, Zyryanova fell 10-7.

NC State will now turn its attention to the final weekend of the regular season, which sees them travel to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech on Friday, April 12, at 4 p.m. The Wolfpack will then take on Clemson on Sunday, April 14, at noon in the final game of the regular season.

The final weekend of the regular season approaches, and No. 12 NC State women's tennis hits the road seeing them take on the No. 24 Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech on Friday, April 12 at 4 p.m. and No. 57 Clemson on Sunday, April 14th at 12 p.m.

Not much separates these two teams in the conference standings, with NC State (17-7, 7-4) and Georgia Tech (12-7,8-3) separated by one match as the Yellow Jackets sit in third place and the Wolfpack in sixth with a 4-4 record on the road.

NC State and Clemson have met once this season, earlier in the year, during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Wolfpack earned a 4-0 victory to secure their spot in the ITA National Indoor Championships, where they would go on and reach the semifinals.

I just looked at the ACC standings, and if we beat Clemson on Sunday (as we should) it looks like we would finish 4th in the league with a 9-4 record. Miami and GT will probably also finish with 9-4 records in conference play, but we beat them both head-to-head. Unc should be the #1 seed in the tournament, as they should tie with Virginia with 12-1 ACC records, but unc beat Virginia in their conference match by a score of 4-0.

The Wolfpack women have been a little up and down and inconsistent this season. The losses to Duke and Syracuse were disappointing...but they've had two big wins over unc this season. If they play their best, they could absolutely win the ACC Championship again at the tournament. If we are the 4th seed, that sets up a semifinal with unc in the tournament.

With five consecutive straight-set victories, No. 12 NC State women's tennis pulled away from the 24th-ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to win 5-2 Friday night from the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

After falling in the doubles play, the Wolfpack (18-7, 8-4) won five straight singles matches, taking five of the six singles matches on the night.

In a ranked match on court one, the Wolfpack's No. 10 Amelia Rajecki and Maddy Zampardo won 7-5 over No. 11 Carol Lee and Kate Sharabura.

Despite the win on court one, the Wolfpack could not secure a second doubles match. The hosts took the doubles point and the early advantage with their own 7-5 victory on court two and a 7-6 (7-4) win on court three.

The Wolfpack were down, but they weren't out. The comeback was started by No. 5 Rajecki taking the win 6-1, 6-4 over No. 60 Carol Lee on court one to even the match at 1-1.

Senior Sophie Abrams picked up her second straight victory on court six and her 92 overall in her career and 80th at NC State, giving NC State the lead with a 7-5, 6-4 over Kate Sharahbura.

With momentum on their side, No. 53 Anna Zyryanova finished her match third on court three 7-5, then won a dominating 6-1 second set to put NC State 3-1.

Senior No. 69 Abigail Rencheli clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kylie Bilchev. Rencheli ended her four-match losing streak, putting her and the Wolfpack back in the win column.

The fifth singles win of the evening came from freshman Zampardo as she also won in straight sets, beating Mahak Jain 6-3, 7-5. Zampardo now moves to 9-2 in ACC action.

In the only loss in singles play, Gina Dittmann kept things close throughout her match, forcing both sets to go to seven games before falling 7-6 (7-5), 7-5.

The Wolfpack will take on Clemson in the regular season finale on Sunday, April 14 at 12 p.m.

Really good interview here with Millie Rajecki.

Of note, at 1:03:10 in video, she is asked what her top 3 moments are at NC State. She says that her #1 memory is winning the ACC Championship at the tournament last year in Cary, and emphasized that the crowd at the match was "unbelievable" and how the experience of the crowd in that match is "ingrained in her memory". Having been at the match myself and yelling like a maniac, I have to agree. The crowd at that match was insane. Head coach Simon Earnshaw has mentioned in multiple interviews how impressive the crowd was at that match and how big of an impact it had on the team, and helped them to play well and win.

Just goes to show how huge of an impact that the fanbase can have on a program (in any sport), just by showing up and being loud and supportive. The Wolfpack fan support at that match propelled them to the first ACC Championship in school history (as admitted by the head coaches of both the Wolfpack and unc). In her post on Instagram on winning the ACC Championship, Diana Shnaider wrote "Thanks everyone who support us today-You made it happen". That day is something that those who were there will never forget, and particularly due to how raucous the crowd was.

Love that 3:30 pm start time on Friday for their quarterfinal match. Makes it easier to take off work just a little early, instead of missing most of a day if it was a morning start time (I think they were 10am last year).

Of course, you don't have to purchase tickets online for the tournament. I went last year, and you can buy the ticket as you walk in to the complex. Parking is free. In addition to the parking at Cary Tennis Park, there is parking available right across the street at Green Hope Elementary School.

Team comes in at #13 in nation in latest rankings.

There really isn't a whole lot of separation (in terms of overall record and where teams could be ranked) between the #11 to about #20 team. So the way that the Wolfpack women's team performs in the ACC Tournament will be very important for the purposes of seeding in the NCAA Tournament. You need to be one of the top 16 seeds in order to host the first two rounds of the Tournament at your home courts (similar format to women's basketball). Also, you would most likely need to be one of the top 8 seeds in order to host the Super Regional (Sweet Sixteen) round, with the winner going to the Elite 8 at the National Site.

They absolutely need to win in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, or they would be in jeopardy of dropping below the 16 seed, and wouldn't get to host those first two rounds. I don't think that should be a problem, as they just defeated GT (the likely opponent) fairly easily on the road 5-2. If they could win in the Semis (likely against unc) and especially if they could win the entire tournament, then they could potentially move into the top 8 in the rankings and be able to host the Super Regional as well.

As I mentioned in the men's tennis thread, I'm taking a half day off work tomorrow to go to Cary Tennis Park to see the men (12:30) and women play (3:30). If anyone else can make it out, I highly recommend it. It's a beautiful facility, will be great weather, should be a good atmosphere/crowd, and the support of our fans will help our teams win.

It's only $10 for an all day pass, and you should be able to buy the ticket at the entrance (as was the case last year).
