NC State's Diana Shnaider earned Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors while Florida State's Millie Bissett and Notre Dame's Bojana Pozder share the ACC Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week award.

Shnaider helped lift then-No. 9 NC State to a 4-3 upset of No. 2 Ohio State. The freshman, who is ranked No. 52 in the country, defeated No. 22 Sydni Ratliff in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), at the top singles position. She also handed the No. 11 duo of Ratliff and Irina Cantos Siemers a loss at the No. 1 doubles spot in a tiebreak fashion, 7-6 (7-1). This is Shnaiders third weekly honor this season and second consecutive award. With the win, NC State is now ranked fourth in the country.

The ITA Rankings Algorithm is based on an accumulation of win points and loss points, accounting for a win-loss record, the strength of schedule, and the depth/significance of wins and losses. As the season progresses, the value of each win and loss adjusts to reflect the most recent ranking of the opponent.

Fourth-ranked NC State women's tennis (8-1, 2-0 ACC) battled past 19th-ranked Georgia Tech (7-3, 2-1 ACC) on Friday afternoon to beat them 4-3.
The win over the Yellow Jackets was the first home victory over the team since 1998 as they lead the series over the Wolfpack 33-15.
Doubles' action was swiftly succeeded by the Wolfpack. On court one, Diana Shnaider and Alana Smith kicked off the festivities with the first 6-2 doubles win for the team. Shortly after, Sophie Abrams and Abigail Rencheli clinched the doubles point on court three with a 6-2 lead to put NC State in the lead. Play by Nell Miller and Amelia Rajecki on court two was abandoned.
While Shnaider fell to her top-15 ranked opponent on court one, Rencheli became victorious in her first set as she fought through a tiebreaker 7-6 (9-7) to take the lead. Shortly after, Abrams fell on court four in two sets.
Gina Dittmann found the first singles win on court six a close first set and a commanding second set finishing 7-5, 6-3. Rencheli snagged the second singles win for the team to put the team back on top 3-2.
After dropping her first set in a tiebreaker, Rajecki controlled her opponent in the second set 6-2 to force a third set finishing 6-3. Rajecki's win on court three clinched the team win for the Wolfpack as the score advanced to 4-2.
Finally, Smith fell on court one in three sets to finish the match and give Georgia Tech their third and final point.

At this point, it's become routine for the NC State women's tennis team to claim wins against ranked competitors. No matter how close the match against No. 19 Georgia Tech in Raleigh was, the Wolfpack still found a way to capture its fifth-straight ranked win.

After No. 4 NC State (8-1, 2-0 ACC) secured the early doubles point, the Yellow Jackets (7-3, 2-1 ACC) gave the home team a run for its money in singles, taking two of the first three courts to grab a 2-1 lead. However, the Wolfpack hunkered down, winning three unanswered singles matches to clinch the match and ultimately win 4-3.

The red-and-white did its thing in the doubles round, easily taking the early point thanks to two 6-2 wins on courts one and three. First, the No. 23 pair of freshman Diana Shnaider and graduate student Alana Smith got a quick victory on court one, and juniors Sophie Abrams and Abigail Rencheli finished the round with a similar win on the last court

The Yellow Jackets turned up the heat in the singles round, claiming some quick wins over two of NC State's five ranked players. Georgia Tech's first point came from No. 14 Carol Lee, who defeated NC State's stellar freshman, No. 52 Shnaider. Next, No. 108 Mahak Jain defeated the No. 69 Abrams on court four, putting the Wolfpack on the defensive.

NC State responded accordingly with a flurry of singles wins that allowed it to comfortably clinch at 4-2. First, junior Gina Dittman beat her Yellow Jacket opponent 7-5, 6-3 on court six, tying the match at 2-2.

To put the Pack in clinch position, No. 51 Rencheli earned a tense two-set win on court five. The junior edged out her opponent in a drawn-out first-set tiebreaker and eventually won 7-6 (9-7), 6-4.

NC State's final win came from No. 17 junior Amelia Rajecki on court three, who after narrowly losing her first set via tiebreak proceeded to dominate in her next two sets. In the end, the junior's impressive 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 6-3 win sealed the deal for the Pack.

Georgia Tech managed to claim one more point a three-set victory over No. 15 Smith on court two but the win was merely consolation, setting the final score at 4-3.

After securing its sixth-straight win, nothing looks like it'll slow down the red-hot Wolfpack anytime soon, especially Clemson and ETSU, who will take on NC State in a doubleheader before the team takes a three-week road trip.

The Wolfpack will take on the Tigers and ETSU at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, on Sunday, March 5.

I went to the GT match. To me, Shnaider just had a really off day. She hit a lot of double faults on serve, and a ton of ground stroke errors. And her opponent, Lee, was just very good (#14 ranked) and played extremely well, getting everything back and making few errors.

As a team, I was impressed with GT. They probably should be ranked higher than #19. Ohio State is still ranked #3 after four losses, and higher than us after we beat them...so these tennis rankings are a little wacky. We barely beat GT, but I still think this Wolfpack women's team is a top 5 team that can win it all in a few months.
