The NC State softball team concluded its season Saturday afternoon after falling to Pitt in a double header. The Wolfpack finished 18-35 overall, 6-18 in ACC play.

NC STATE 8, PITT 12
Pitt started off with a bang as they scored four in the bottom half of the first on back-to-back doubles. The Wolfpack responded in the top of the second with hot bats. After sophomore Kaylee Lambrecht walked, senior Libby Whittaker took the box and hit a hard ball past the left field wall to get the Pack on the board. Trailing by two, with one out and one on base, sophomore Hannah Goodwin took her second chance in the box and slammed a ball past right field to tie the game four all. After Pitt picked up out number two and walked two, sophomore Taylor Ensley stepped up to the plate and singled through the left side. The hit allowed Rebecca Murray to score and give NC State the lead, 5-4.

Right handed freshman pitcher Madison Inscoe entered the circle in the bottom of the second. Pitt decided to match NC State's five runs in the bottom half of the frame as a walk with bases loaded brought one home and Rachael Fuerst hit a grand slam. The Panthers finished the second inning leading 9-5.

Inscoe pitched three innings for the Pack and picked up a strikeout before redshirt-junior Aisha Weixlmann entered the game in the bottom of the fifth. The Panthers scored two more in the bottom of the fifth after Sarah Seamans hit a two run homer.

To start the Pack off in the top of the sixth, freshman MaKayla Marbury hit a solo shot to center field to minimize the Panther's lead. Freshman catcher Amanda Hasler reached first on a fielding error by Pitt's first baseman. The Wolfpack's chance of minimizing the deficit was cut short after the next two popped up to the outfield.

The Wolfpack found a weak spot in the Panther's defense as Gracie Roberts singled through the left side with two outs and one on base. Marbury then reached on an error and advanced to second, allowing Whittaker and Roberts to score to minimize the Panther's lead to four. Goodwin stepped into the box for the fourth time in the meeting and singled up the middle to get Marbury in scoring position. The Panthers grabbed out three to end the game.

NC STATE 3, PITT 9
The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first after a homer from Sarah Seamans brought two across the plate.

The Wolfpack had hot bats in the top of the second as Whittaker singled to left and Roberts singled up the middle to get on base. With two outs and two on base, Murray nailed a no-brainer to left to pick up her eighth homer of the season. Goodwin immediately singled to left following the home run, but the Panthers grabbed out number three to end the top half of the frame.

Pitt responded to NC State taking the lead by adding five runs to the board in the bottom of the second. A two run homer, a single, wild pitch, and an error allow the Panthers to cross the plate. The Pack brought in Inscoe with two outs in hopes of ending the Panther's scoring run.

Weixlmann started in the circle and finished with 1.2 innings pitched, one strikeout, and one batter walked.

The Panthers added two more runs in the fourth inning, increasing their score to nine. The Wolfpack made several attempts to minimize their lead, but came up short in the end.

For the second consecutive season, Auburn women's tennis will be playing in the NCAA Tennis Championships round of 16 after defeating No. 14 Miami by a 4-3 score on Saturday. With the match tied 3-3, Auburn junior Adeline Flach clinched the match victory to send the Tigers to the super regionals.

"What a college tennis match," Auburn Head Coach Caroline Lilley said after the upset win. "To go on the road, in difficult conditions, and to play with the poise we did down the stretch, I am humbled to coach this group of young women. Our support at Auburn starts at the top and trickles down to every single person who touches our program. We stopped knocking this weekend, and instead, decided to take our seat at the table."

After Auburn dropped the doubles match on court two 6-1, the top Tigers duo of Ariana Arseneault and Carolyn Ansari defeated Daevenia Achong and Maya Tahan, the 51st ranked doubles team in the country, by a 6-2 score.

In a tightly contested match on court three, Flach and Angella Okutoyi prevailed after forcing a tiebreaker to win 7-6 (5) over Audrey Boch-Collins and Mia Mack for their 11th dual win of the season to claim the doubles point for Auburn.

In singles, Auburn stared by picking up first set wins on courts three, four and six. DJ Bennett, who cliched the match win during the first round against FIU on Friday, was the first to finish with a 6-2, 6-1 win over No. 88 Isabella Pfennig. Carolyn Ansari then dropped her match to Daevenia Achong on court two, but the Tigers maintained a 2-1 lead.

Okutoyi then posted a convincing 6-3, 6-0 win over Audrey Boch-Collins for her 15th dual match victory of the year. The Hurricanes began to gain some momentum back with two-set victories on courts five and one to tie the match 3-3.

The match would be decided on court six, the only singles match to be forced into a third set. Flach took the decisive third set to give Auburn the NCAA Second Round victory. This marks the second time that the junior has cliched a match in the NCAA Championships, as she also delivered the match winner against Jackson State in the first round in 2022.

Auburn will now travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to face fourth ranked NC State for the program's fourth ever apperance in a super regional.

This was a directive from the NCAA for @PackWTennis & @AuburnWTennis to move the start time up due to forecast rain after 6pm. I hope for both teams that everybody is still able to make it - the NCAA Super Regional concept is to provide for spectators and fan engagement on campus
