Fifth-ranked NC State women's tennis (10-2, 3-1 ACC) falls 3-4 to No. 18 Miami (8-2, 3-1 ACC) on the road to tally its first ACC loss of the dual-match season.

The Wolfpack started off by grabbing the doubles point with 6-3 wins on courts one and two to have high hopes heading into singles play. 18th-ranked Diana Shnaider and Alana Smith picked up the first victory of the day on court one over Miami's Achong and Tahan. Following behind them, ninth-ranked Nell Miller and Amelia Rajecki clinched the doubles point on court two over Noel and Pfennig from the Hurricanes.

Leading 1-0 moving into singles play, the potential outcome was pivoting back and forth as matches were getting close. The first point given up to the Hurricanes was on court one as No. 35 Shnaider lost to No. 13 Alexa Noel 4-6, 1-6.

Tied at 1-1, No. 13 Smith snagged the first singles point for the team on court two as she finished in two sets 6-3, 6-2 over Achong. Abrams fell on court five in two sets to Mack 3-6, 5-7 to tie the team score again, 2-2.

After a promising first set, Rajecki led court three at first when she finished the first set 6-3 and got ahead in the second but ultimately was taken over in the second and third 4-6, 1-6. On court four Rencheli answered back with the last win of the day for the Pack as she battled through a tiebreaker set 7-6 (7-1) and then handled business in the second 6-3.

With the team scores tied 3-3, the match came down to court six where Gina Dittmann was taking on Miami's Tahan. The first set belonged to the junior as she won 6-4 but then fell in the second 2-6. Towards the end of the third set, play became intense as it appeared Dittmann could come back when she narrowed the score to 4-5 but then dropped the set to give the Hurricanes the winning point.

The top-20 matchup between the Wolfpack and Hurricanes snapped the eight-game winning streak held by NC State and handed them their first ACC loss of the season.
