Eighth-ranked NC State women's tennis (13-2, 5-1 ACC) adds another win against an ACC opponent as they took down Notre Dame (11-7, 1-5 ACC) with a 5-2 decision on Friday evening in South Bend.


Things were all gas no breaks as doubles play was breezed through on courts one and two. The iconic duo, No. 19 Nell Miller and Amelia Rajecki, finished first on court two as they shut out No. 29 Andreach and Beckman 6-0. Their win picked up another ranked win as their opponents, are currently ranked 29th in the country.

Shnaider and Smith followed their lead with a 6-1 victory on court one over Notre Dame's Castedo and Freeman. Play was halted on court three once the point was clinched by play but highlighted a new doubles pairing with Sophie Abrams and Gina Dittmann.

Singles wins for the team were featured on court one by Shnaider, court three by Rajecki, court four by Abrams, and finally court six by Gina Dittmann.

Abrams and Shnaider were the only players to finish off their opponents in two sets, as the other two dropped their first sets and had to continue play with a second set win and ultimately a final win in set three.

Shnaider's 7-6, 6-1 win secured another ranked win as she beat Notre Dame's Page Freeman who is currently ranked 59th.

Eighth-ranked NC State women's tennis (14-2, 6-1 ACC) shut out Louisville (8-10, 0-8 ACC) to finish its streak on the road with a 7-0 win.

Doubles action featured a new pairing in the number one spot as Nell Miller and Diana Shnaider took the court together for the first time. Their match resulted in a 6-4 victory that officially clinched the doubles point after Sophie Abrams and Abigail Rencheli took the first win on court two with a 6-2 decision. Play on court three continued to result in a third doubles triumph for the Wolfpack from Gina Dittmann and Anna Zyryanova.

Leading one zip moving into singles, Shnaider took the first singles win on court one with a near shutout over Louisville's Andrea DiPalma 6-1, 6-0. Her win was quickly followed by another freshman on court six with Zyryanova finished 6-0, 6-2 over Maria Campos.

Dittmann snagged the the fourth singles point on court four with the second near shutout match of the day with a 6-0, 6-1 conquest over Tyra Richardson. Abrams and Rencheli also picked up two set wins on courts three and two to push the team lead to 6-0.

Miller finished up the day in only two sets like the rest of her teammates after she had to battle through a tiebreak in the second.

Tomorrow, March 31 the team will welcome No. 28 Syracuse at 2 p.m. and ECU at 6 p.m. for a doubleheader. Sunday, April 2 will display another home conference match with No. 45 Boston College.
