Sixth-ranked NC State women's tennis remained unbeaten on the season and improved to 8-0 for the second time in the last three years with Sunday victories over South Carolina and ECU. The Wolfpack won both matches by 7-0 scores.

NC STATE 7, SOUTH CAROLINA 0
NC State continued its stretch of fast starts, once again snatching the doubles point with strong efforts across the board.

Sara Nayar and Priska Nugroho kicked things off for the Wolfpack, using an early break at 2-0 that would eventually lead to a 6-1 decision over Kendall Couch and Ana Cruz. Following close behind, Amelia Rajecki and Abigail Rencheli followed in similar fashion to secure the doubles point. After a 3-1 break in the set, the pair built on the momentum, grabbing a 6-1 final over Elise Mills and Megan Davies.

The Wolfpack carried over their success into singles play. On court three, Priska Nugroho got things started for the team with a ranked victory over No. 118 Davies. She used several key break points for the 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Nell Miller added another win to her season with a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Mills to secure a 3-0 lead.

The highlight of the day was on court one with a top-10 battle between No. 8 Jaeda Daniel and No. 2 Sarah Hamner. Daniel took early control and won the first set before battling her way through a highly-contested second set. In the tiebreaker, Daniel closed out the match and clinched the team victory for the Wolfpack 6-1, 7-6 (1).

Rencheli added another ranked victory for NC State over No. 28 Ayana Akli on court two, and Rajecki and Sophie Abrams both came away with wins in the last contests of the match.

NC STATE 7, ECU 0
NC State was also perfect against the Pirates, starting with 6-0 wins on courts two and three in doubles with the same pairs from earlier. Miller, Nugroho, Abrams, Daniel and Rajecki added to their singles tallies with additional wins over ECU, and Nayar plugged in at the No. 6 singles slot where she cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Anne Lou Champion to round out the day.

UP NEXT
NC State heads to Madison, Wis., next weekend to compete in the 2021 ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The bracket will be released soon, and all information about the tournament can be found here.

Following another perfect weekend of action across the board, NC State women's tennis graduate student Jaeda Daniel was named ACC Player of the Week for the second time in a row on Tuesday afternoon.

Daniel won all three of her singles matches and tacked on a doubles victory in the Wolfpack's team wins over No. 21 Tennessee, South Carolina and ECU. She helped NC State improve to 8-0 on the season and earn its third victory over a ranked opponent in the still-early stages of 2022 dual match play.

Playing at the No. 1 singles spot for the entirety of the season thus far, Daniel earned two ranked wins over the weekend. She kicked off her run with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 14 Rebeka Mertena (Tennessee) and bettered that with the highest ranked win over her career, also a straight-sets decision over No. 2 Sarah Hamner (South Carolina). Daniel won that match 6-1, 7-6 (5) to clinch the Pack's team victory. She also gutted out a three-setter over ECU's Martina Muzzolon to close out the weekend.

Daniel and partner Nell Miller only completed once doubles match over the course of the weekend, but that decision was a 6-0 win against ECU on Sunday.

The sixth-ranked NC State women's tennis team (9-0) opened action at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with a first-round win over No. 14 Auburn (7-1) on Friday afternoon. The Wolfpack defeated the Tigers by a 4-2 score for the team's fourth win over a ranked opponent this season.

NC State advances to the quarterfinals of the national tournament for the second time in program history with the victory. The Wolfpack will take on No. 3 Georgia in the next round in what will be a rematch between two 2021 NCAA Championships quarterfinalist teams.

Against the Tigers on Friday, NC State continued to show its prowess in doubles action and took the opening point for the ninth time in as many matches played this season. The top two courts posted identical 6-1 scores, highlighted by Abigail Rencheli and Amelia Rajecki's first ranked win of the season over No. 43 Ariana Arseneault and Selin Ovunc on court one.

All of the completed singles matches on the day were decided in straight-sets. The Wolfpack continues to build its lead with nearly simultaneous wins on courts five and four. Sophie Abrams defeated Georgie Axon 6-1, 6-3, and Nell Miller beat Adeline Flach 6-1, 6-4 to put the Pack's team score at 3-0.

Auburn posted wins on courts six and two, but Wolfpack graduate Jaeda Daniel already had a set lead on the top court. Daniel, who is ranked 12th nationally in singles, came back from a multi-game deficit in the second set to beat No. 39 Selin Ovunc 6-2, 7-5 for the clinch.

NC State and Georgia are set to face off at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday afternoon at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Big, big win over #3 seed Georgia at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships today, moving on to the semifinals of this tournament for the first time in program history.

The team is currently ranked #3 in the nation by the USTA and #6 by the ITA, and faces #2 UNC tomorrow in the semifinals.

Really exciting time for Pack women's tennis. I've just started following the Pack women and been to a couple matches over the past couple years. I've always liked tennis in general, and it's really exciting in the team format.

You can watch this live on the match tomorrow at 1pm on the live stream on the Cracked Racquets YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/CrackedRacquets/videos

No. 6 NC State women's tennis punched its ticket to the semifinals at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, beating No. 3 Georgia by a 4-2 score in the quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon to advance in the tournament.

With the win, NC State has compiled a 10-0 record to start the season, the best season-opening mark for the squad since it was first established as a varsity team in 1978. Five of those wins have been against nationally-ranked opponents.

Playing in its third ITA Indoors tournament, the Wolfpack advances to the semifinal round for the first time in program history. NC State will take on local rival and fellow ACC team North Carolina in the semifinal matchup on Sunday.

The Wolfpack has now defeated the Bulldogs three meetings in a row, with Georgia tabbed as the nation's No. 3 team in each of those matchups. The Pack's victories in those matches all tie as the highest ranked wins in program history.

NC State and Georgia put on an absolute thriller of a doubles point, and the Wolfpack once again came out on top to take an early lead in the team score. The Bulldogs took the first victory on court one, but NC State remained resilient for 7-5 decisions on courts two and three.

Sara Nayar and Priska Nugroho notched the win on court two first. Down 5-4, the Wolfpack duo won the final three games of the set, holding serve, getting a break to go up 6-5 and serving out the match.

The 30th-ranked pair of Jaeda Daniel and Nell Miller followed suit with a dramatic win of their own on court two. They rallied off four games in a row after facing a 5-3 deficit. After facing three break points, Daniel held her serve on the deuce point to put the Pack back in front 6-5, and she and Miller broke for the victory.

The first three singles matches off wrapped up in first sets, with Georgia getting the equalizer on one but NC State taking a 3-1 advantage with wins on three and four. Miller beat her second ranked opponent of the season in a 6-4, 6-1 decision over No. 95 Ania Hertel, and Nugroho followed with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Darja Vidmanova to put the Pack a win away from the clinch.

All three remaining courts extended into third sets. Amelia Rajecki's valiant effort came up just short on court six with No. 46 Meg Kowalski getting the 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win. Rajecki faced a 5-0 deficit in the third and rallied off four games in a row before coming up just short.

Abigail Rencheli and Sophie Abrams were both doing great work in their respective third sets, but it was Abrams who clinched on court five with a ranked victory over No. 119 Morgan Coppoc. Abrams won that match by a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 score, breaking Coppoc twice in the third set, including the final game of the match.

NC State is set to face off against No. 2 North Carolina at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday.
