Jaeda Daniel strung together four singles victories in her weekend of action at the ITA Carolina Regional to reach the final of the A1 bracket in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Wolfpack graduate student came up just short in the championship match on Monday, falling by a tight 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 score to No. 32 Cameron Morra of UNC.

Prior to Monday's finals match, Daniel earned wins over Halli Trinkle (College of Charleston), Alle Sanford (UNC), No. 28 Chloe Beck (Duke) and Carson Tanguilig (UNC). She defeated those first three opponents in straight sets, and her victory over Beck marked the highest ranked win of her Wolfpack career.

Sophie Abrams opened her weekend with back-to-back wins before falling in the quarterfinal round of the A2 bracket. Abigail Rencheli, Amelia Rajecki, Julia Abrams and Sara Nayar also represented the Wolfpack in regional singles action.

In doubles, Daniel and Rencheli paired up in the A1 bracket while Rajecki and Nayar competed in the A2 bracket. Both of those pairs posted two wins in three weekend matches.

NC State will await its selections for the upcoming 2021 ITA National Fall Championships event. The fall season finale is set for Nov. 4-7 in San Diego, Calif.

The NC State women's tennis team has released its 2022 dual match schedule, as announced by head coach Simon Earnshaw on Tuesday.

The full match schedule is posted on GoPack.com, and more match times will be added as soon as possible.

HEARING FROM THE HEAD COACH:
"The goal this season was to provide the most challenging schedule possible and for us to try and pick up where we left off last season," said Earnshaw. "After a hidden dual at Miami, we get going right out of the gate with what I expect to be two fantastic top-15 home matches against Princeton and Ohio State.

Then, there's no let-up with us hosting Northwestern, Wake Forest and Iowa State for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, followed by a pair of familiar SEC opponents for us on the road at Tennessee and at home against South Carolina. We then travel to Kansas for the finale of a four-match set that's been delayed since 2019 and finish up that road trip with a rematch of last season's NCAA Final Four at Texas on Feb. 20.

All of this should have us thoroughly battle tested for the week-in, week-out grind of the ACC. Coming off a 2021 season that saw six ACC squads finish in the nation's top 10, I don't expect any let-up in the rigor that makes this the best conference in the nation. We haven't hosted Florida State and Miami many times in conference play in recent years, but we start out with them in early March. This season, we also face Wake Forest, Duke, UNC and Louisville at home and conclude regular-season action with Senior Day on Sunday, April 17 against Notre Dame.

Going into this spring, all of us are mindful that it continues to be a very difficult time globally. After the 2020 season was canceled midway through, we're not taking anything for granted. We're going to have to be extremely vigilant and disciplined as a program on a daily basis and then be prepared to adapt to any changes and disruptions that might occur in the coming weeks. With that said, it's super exciting to be on the verge of another season and for all of us involved to once again have the opportunity to represent NC State to the highest level possible. That's something that never gets old. Go Pack!"

NC State women's tennis will start its dual match campaign ranked in the national top 10 for the third season in a row as it was ranked No. 8 in the ITA Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll on Wednesday.

That number ties as the best preseason ranking for the program, as it was also ranked eighth to start the 2020 and 2021 campaigns. NC State has now been featured in the national top 15 of every rankings release since Feb. 26, 2019.

The Wolfpack is coming off its best season in program history during which it reached the 2021 NCAA Final Four and finished with its best-ever final national ranking of No. 6 at the conclusion of team play. NC State compiled a 20-6 record last season, with those victories ranking as the second-most in a single season in team history. Half of the team's wins were against nationally-ranked opponents, and four of those were versus top-10 squads. A program-best three players were named All-ACC honorees last season, and four Pack players earned All-America citations at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, also a program best.

The Wolfpack returns four players from that 2020-21 team, including ITA All-America honorees Jaeda Daniel and Alana Smith. Sophomore standouts Amelia Rajecki and Abigail Rencheli are also back with the squad, and the program welcomes a solid group of freshmen and transfers to round out its roster for the year.

In addition to the team ranking, NC State has three players ranked in the national top 25 in singles following fall play. Daniel leads the way with a personal-best ranking of No. 8, Smith checked in at No. 24 and Rencheli also earned the highest singles ranking of her career at No. 25. NC State's three players in the top 25 ranks second in the nation. Daniel and Smith were also ranked in doubles as they were tabbed the nation's No. 21 duo.

NC State hits the road for a weekend at the Miami Invitational Jan. 15-17 before returning home to host No. 23 Princeton on Jan. 22 and No. 10 Ohio State on Jan. 23.

The Pack's full match 2022 schedule is posted on GoPack.com, and more match times will be added as soon as possible. Home matches at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center are free to attend, and fans will be required to wear masks for any matches played indoors as noted in the University's Community Standards.

The Wolfpack returns four players from that 2020-21 team, including ITA All-America honorees Jaeda Daniel and Alana Smith. Sophomore standouts Amelia Rajecki and Abigail Rencheli are also back with the squad, and the program welcomes a solid group of newcomers that includes transfers Sophie Abrams, Nell Miller and Sara Nayar and freshmen Priska Nugroho and Julia Abrams.

NC State has three players ranked in the national top 25 in singles following fall play. No. 8 NC State women's tennis saw its first action of 2022 over the weekend as seven players represented the Wolfpack at the Miami Spring Invite from Saturday through Monday.

Matching up against competitors from No. 1 Texas, No. 24 Miami and Vanderbilt, NC State collected nine singles victories over the course of three days of competition in Coral Gables, Fla. Each of the Pack's three doubles pairs also tallied a win over the weekend. Nell Miller and Priska Nugroho made their NC State debuts at the tournament, and Sara Nayar, Jaeda Daniel, Abigail Rencheli, Sophie Abrams and Amelia Rajecki all continued their 2021-22 seasons coming off of a solid fall of competition.

Miller went 3-0 in singles action over the weekend in her first tournament with the Wolfpack, and Nayar joined her with a 3-0 clip of her own in singles play. Neither player dropped a set on Saturday or Sunday.

Rencheli, who is ranked 25th nationally in singles, added a ranked win to her tally as she defeated No. 76 Isabella Pfennig (Miami) on Sunday. Rencheli came back from a set down to secure the victory.

Nugroho earned her first collegiate win during Monday's action after joining the Wolfpack in advance of the spring semester, and Rajecki also closed out her weekend with a singles win on the final day of action.

NC State officially kicks off dual action with back-to-back home matches against No. 23 Princeton (Jan. 22) and No. 10 Ohio State (Jan. 23). Matches at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center are free to attend, and masks must be worn for all contests that are held indoors.
