Two NC State women's tennis doubles pairs and three singles players have been selected to participate in the upcoming 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's All-American Championships.

Jaeda Daniel and Alana Smith will make their debut as a pair in the doubles main draw, and they will be joined by sophomore duo Abigail Rencheli and Amelia Rajecki in that bracket.

In singles, Smith, Rencheli and newcomer Sophie Abrams earned entry into the singles qualifying draw. Sara Nayar will serve as an alternate for that field.

The event is set to run Oct. 4-10 and will take place in Charleston, South Carolina. Eight players will advance out of the qualifying draw to compete in the main draw. Main draw action for doubles will begin later in that week.

The Wolfpack women's tennis team is set to play as host to one of the premiere collegiate tennis events of Fall 2021 as it welcomes a stacked field to the Fall Ranked Spotlight this coming weekend.

The four-day tournament will be played at Cary Tennis Park from Thursday through Sunday. There will not be live results or live streaming. More information about the invitational is located here.

FORMAT:
NC State is one of 13 teams that will be sending "2 ranked + 2 players" to compete this weekend. UCF, Tennessee, Ohio State, South Carolina, Miami, Virginia, Michigan, USC, Duke, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Princeton are also set to participate. Of those 13 teams, 12 finished the 2021 dual match campaign ranked in the national top 30.

There will be two singles draws, with each including a back draw, and the doubles teams will be divided into four pods. A schedule of play for the weekend is as follows:

Thursday: 2 doubles matches
Friday: 2 singles matches
Saturday: 2 singles matches
Sunday: 1 doubles match, 1 singles match

WOLFPACK REPRESENTATION:
The Pack will be well-represented by four women, three whom are featured in the preseason national singles rankings. Alana Smith (No. 23) and Jaeda Daniel (No. 111) will also pair up for doubles as the nation's 27th-ranked duo, while Amelia Rajecki and Sophie Abrams (No. 49) will also play as a doubles pair.

Daniel and Smith both earned All-America citations in doubles after the 2021 NCAA Championships, and this weekend will mark their first time playing as a duo in official collegiate competition. Smith went on a program-best run to the national semifinals last year, and Daniel ended her doubles season in the Round of 16 after earning a top-eight seed into the national draw.

Abrams enters the fall with a career-high singles ranking. She beat her previous mark of No. 70 as well following a season during which she was named AAC Freshman of the Year before transferring to NC State.

Abigail Rencheli, who is ranked a personal-best No. 48 in singles, will compete in the A draw, and Sara Nayar and Rajecki will compete in the B draw.

NC State women's tennis has added Nell Miller to its roster, as announced by head coach Simon Earnshaw on Friday.

Miller is transferring from Texas Tech where she spent three seasons with the Lady Raiders. She is set to join the Wolfpack for the start of the spring semester and dual match action.

"Nell was a player we looked at prior to college and unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to see her represent the Wolfpack at that point in her career," said Earnshaw. "When a second chance came around this past summer, this was a no-brainer for both Dave (Secker) and I, and we're fortunate Nell was on board and chose NC State to finish out college tennis. We played against Nell both in 2019 and 2020, and her passion, competitive spirit and energy really stood out to us. This was a natural fit for us to add someone with her experience coming off last season's Final Four appearance for our program, and we look forward to seeing her on campus in January. Go Pack!"

While at Texas Tech, Miller was a key part of the starting singles and doubles lineups for the Raiders. She amassed 45 singles victories and 48 doubles wins in her three years and reached a career-high doubles national ranking of No. 35.

A native of Kent, England, Miller most recently went 16-10 in singles in 2020-21. She picked up 14 singles victories in dual play and was the Big 12 Champion at No. 4 singles with her 5-2 record at the position.

"For me, NC State just felt like the perfect fit, from the coaches to the teammates to the education," said Miller. "When speaking to Simon and Dave, it felt like all of the goals aligned and the possibilities were endless. I can't wait to compete for NC State in the spring and finish my last two years there!"

Miller has been ranked as high as No. 846 in the WTA singles standings and No. 414 in the ITF doubles rankings. She was runner-up at the Aegon British Tour Tipton Tournament before coming to college, and she took the WTA No. 219 ranked Ana Guilia Remondina to three sets in singles play. In 2019, Miller won the Norman W15 doubles title.

The daughter of Neil and Vicki Miller, Nell has one sister, Mollie. She is a big Formula 1 fan.
