NC State Opens NCAA Tourney Play In The Greenville Regional

NC State will open play in the Greenville Regional on Friday against Campbell

The Wolfpack is the No. 2 seed in the regional, and No. 1 seed East Carolina is the host team.  The winner of the Greenville Regional will face the winner of the Louisville Regional.

Looking at the radar I don't see how the game could possibly continue before 10pm or so.
In that scenario game two wouldn't be until tomorrow, so that means an extra game on the Saturday slate.

Do we have anymore good pinch hit options? Need debo to start out with a double. Tatum and Mcaurther can get the job done but they sure strike out a lot. Hopefully they can put it in play and bring Debo in. Just need 1 run...

They have already been used along with 1 other. 0-3 with 3 strike-outs...they may still be in the game?

This! He must kill it in the cage and Avent just thinks that at some point it will translate to the real game but that has not happened. Pitiful. He may be a great kid but having him hitting when the game and really the season is on the line is just not doing what's best for the team.

Can we finally please get rid of Avent? Worst in game coach I've ever seen dawn a baseball field. Every year, start hot, suck at the end, and never win anything of note. NC is a hot bed of baseball talent and this goober can't win *****

Why can't there just be a single "Fire Avent" thread on the baseball board where everyone can go full ******? The season isn't over yet. We go down four runs in the first inning and the same posters lose their ***** That's one swing of the bat in baseball. Show me one thing, one ****ing thing the coach did wrong in that four run half inning. Should our best pitcher not have been on the mound? Should our best player not have been playing shortstop? Any one of those runs was the difference in the game, and not one of them had one single thing to do with the ****ing coach. And then people are going to talk **** about the players, who are out there for 60 games a year, practicing every day, for 1/3 a scholarship? Give me a break. I don't personally give a crap who the coach is, but as long as there are fans that care more about being right, care more about wanting to fire the coach, than supporting the team while they are playing, then we aren't ever going to win anything, in any sport, and that's honestly what we deserve. Nothing.

Agree. .I hate losing with the best of em, but our best player laid an egg. 4 Ks, 3 errors. Gave up only 4 hits but 5 unerned runs. Avent can recruit em and insert em, but he can't play for em. I mean a potential 1st rounder lost the game for us essentially. It happens To the best.

I agree with you guys about the posters that just can't say anything positive and only speak up when things go bad. But the posters who expect everyone to always be positive and never say anything bad about the coach or complain when players just don't show up for important games are just as bad.

Here is some reality for all:
No player has ever been perfect and always played perfect games. So to expect that out of our players or even for our coach to always make the right decision or call is just ridiculous. So chill out when people make mistakes.

Our current baseball coach has never won a championship in 23 years. He has had a ton of talent to work with and gets all of the credit for the talent that he has recruited and the abundance of wins that he has racked up over the years, and he deserves that credit. He also deserves to be held responsible for never getting us over the hump and never making the right call or decision when he has had the opportunity to do so. No, he cannot hit or field or throw for his players, but he is responsible to have the players both physically and mentally ready to hit, and field and throw when it counts. For whatever reason he has never been able to do that.

Well, startin Reid Johnston was wrong. He's got high school stuff. But this all started at the FSU game. The coach mailed it in and didn't take the game seriously and now we're in free fall. Have a play to win mentality. As the leader you never let your team see you concede. The kids that are playing hard right now are doing it for themselves. None of them are playing hard for their leader. He does not inspire you to win.

I also agree that FSU game was a bad deal. We had just won the series against UNC on the road and then had a momentum win against Wake in the tournament. NEVER take a game off. We've now lost three in a row in the postseason. Can't do that.
