Wow. Huge win! It had been many, many years since we have beaten UVA. I can't remember the last time it has happened.

Edited: Article says we beat them in 2020. That may be our only other win vs them going back to 2006 when I started following tennis more closely.

Sixth-ranked NC State men's tennis continues to climb toward the top, after taking out No. 6 Stanford last week, now the Pack has defeated fifth-ranked Virginia on the road, avenging its loss to them back in February at ITA Team Indoors.

The Wolfpack has now claimed four top-10 wins this season over No. 9 Mississippi State, No. 7 Kentucky, No. 6 Stanford, and No. 5 Virginia.

Despite dropping the doubles point to the Cavaliers, the Wolfpack was able to come back and claim four singles courts for its first win over Virginia since 2020.

Going wire-to-wire, the victory came down to the very last game of the day. On court two it was No. 41 Martin Borisiouk who came back to clinch the win for his team after dropping the second set in a tiebreaker.

Once again, the underclassmen for the red-and-white played a crucial role in the win. Jules Leroux got it done first on court five with a two-set triumph to even out the scoreboard 1-1.

No. 55 Luca Staeheli followed behind securing the next team point via a two-set win on court three to tie up the scoreboard again at 2-2 after Braden Shick fell on court one to No. 18 Rafael Jodar.

Rallying back after losing his first set 4-6, redshirt-freshman William Manning took the next win for the Pack to provide energy to Borisiouk's fight on court two.

No. 6 NC State men's tennis tied its highest-ever ranking under head coach Kyle Spencer last week after beating then-No. 6 Stanford.

After this week's round of new rankings, the Wolfpack will likely surpass that all-time high under Spencer.
The red-and-white walked into Charlottesville, Virginia and beat the No. 5 Cavaliers 4-3 in a heavyweight ACC matchup. The Pack's win over the Cavs is good for its fourth top-10 win of the season.

NC State and Virginia went blow-for-blow in the bout. By the end of the match, the outcome came down to the Wolfpack's No. 41 junior Martin Borisiouk and the Cavs' No. 22 Dylan Dietrich.

After splitting the first two sets by scores of 7-5 and 7-6 (7-5), Dietrich and Borisiouk engaged in one final, grueling set with everything on the line. Battling to the very end, Borisiouk eventually outlasted one of the best and most revered college tennis players in the nation 7-5, heroically winning the deciding court to earn his team a win at 4-3.

NC State was forced to overcome a 1-0 deficit once singles started after losing two out of three doubles courts in the early round. The No. 67 pair of Dietrich and Mans Dahlberg downed NC State's top pair, No. 8 seniors Fons Van Sambeek and Braden Shick, 7-5 to start the round. NC State responded with a win on Court 3 from redshirt freshman William Manning and Borisiouk in a 6-4 victory.

However, Virginia took the deciding court over the No. 12 pair of senior Luca Staeheli and freshman Jules Leroux for the early advantage.

Leroux responded in singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win on Court 5 to even NC State back up with the Cavs at 1-1. From there, NC State and Virginia continued to trade blows No. 18 Rafael Jodar downed No. 24 Shick on Court 1 in straight sets to put Virginia back out in front while a 6-2, 6-3 win from No. 55 Staeheli on Court 3 evened the score once again.

The Wolfpack took its first lead of the day thanks to a win from Manning on Court 6. Despite losing his first set, the redshirt freshman took his next two for a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win to put the Pack in clinch position.

Virginia earned its last win of the day via a three-set victory on Court 4 over Van Sambeek. From there, it all came down to Borisiouk and Dietrich on Court 2. When Borisiouk was finished, NC State had impressively beaten its fourth top-10 team of the season.

The Wolfpack will finish its short road trip with a stop in Blacksburg, Virginia for a match with Virginia Tech on Sunday. First serve against the Hokies is set for 1 p.m.

Fifth-ranked NC State men's tennis (13-4, 5-0) defeated the reigning ACC Champions and picked up their fifth conference win of the season with a 4-0 win over Florida State (10-6, 2-3) Friday night.

In front of its largest crowd so far this season, the Wolfpack turned around doubles play to have a lead moving into singles that was then cleaned up by the back half of the lineup to sweep the Seminoles.

The doubles point appeared to be slipping away until the tides started to turn when No. 8 Braden Shick and Fons Van Sambeek tied it up on court one 3-3 against No. 3 Alex Bulte and Youcef Rihane. On court three, Martin Borisouk and William Manning cut their trail to just one game (2-3) while No. 12 Jules Leroux Luca Staeheli carried their 4-1 lead on court two.

Doubles pairs for the Pack on courts one and two were both able to jump ahead to 5-4 on their courts to eventually take crucial 6-4 victories after doubles on court three fell.

Highlighted by Shick and Van Sambeek defeating the No. 3 doubles pair in the nation, NC State moved into singles play with a 1-0 lead.

William Manning took the first singles point of the night with a quick two-set victory on court six. His 6-3, 6-2 win extended the Pack's team lead to 2-0. He was followed shortly after by Fons Van Sambeek also picking up a two-set victory over on court five to push the scoreboard to 3-0.

After dropping his first set, Luca Staeheli was fighting through his three-set battle on court three, inching closer and closer toward the needed singles point. Ultimately, it was Jules Leroux who clinched the win for the Pack yet again.
