19th-ranked NC State men's tennis closed out its lengthy nonconference road stretch Friday night with a 4-1 win over Princeton.

Freshman pair, Noah Gabriel and William Manning, got it done first for NC State on doubles court three with a 6-4 victory.

The new dynamic duo, 33rd-ranked Jules Leroux and Luca Staeheli, made their debut on the doubles court one for the first time and added another ranked win to their resume to clinch the doubles point over Princeton's Filippos Astreinidis and Paul Inchauspe.

16th-ranked Braden Shick claimed a massive win on court one over 20th-ranked Paul Inchauspe in just two sets to carry the Wolfpack's momentum from the doubles point and put his team up 2-0.

On court three for singles, No. 110 Luca Staeheli defeated Princeton's Landon Ardila in straight sets to extend the Pack's lead over the Tigers, 3-0.

Gabriel, the freshman, fell on court six to give the Tigers their lone point on the scoreboard for the night. While Manning, the other freshman for the Wolfpack, was able to clinch the match for his team after pulling through a tiebreaker in his second set.

19th-ranked NC State men's tennis opened its time at the ITA National Team Indoors tournament with a massive statement win over Kentucky to advance in the main draw. The Pack is set to take on No. 1 seed Wake Forest on Saturday, February 15 at 4:30 p.m. (ET).

NC State, the No. 5 seed, collected its second top-10 win of the season Friday night when it comfortably defeated Kentucky, No. 4 seed, in the opening action of the ITA National Team Indoors tournament.

Propelled by a crucial doubles point claim from wins on courts one and two, the Pack would go on to only allow one singles win by Kentucky.

The star-studded redshirt-freshman, Jules Leroux, cruised through his match on court six over Kentucky's Matthew Rankin. A two-set win by a 6-4, 6-2 decision extended the Pack's lead to 2-0 to continue the high energy for the red-and-white.

On court two, 45th-ranked Martin Borisiouk battled through a tiebreaker in the second set over No. 62 Jaden Weekes to give his team the much needed point after Braden Shick fell on court one, putting NC State up 3-1.

After claiming the first set, Fons Van Sambeek mounted a huge comeback to take the third set after dropping the second over ranked opponent No. 95 Charlelie Cosnet, ultimately clinching the win for his team.

19th-ranked NC State men's tennis fell to second-ranked Wake Forest Saturday night by a 4-2 score in the quarterfinals of the ITA National Team Indoors Championships.

Although the Pack was unable to secure the doubles point, Braden Shick and Fons Van Sambeek recorded an impressive win on court one over 30th-ranked Stefan Dostanic and Dhaksineswar Suresh by a commanding 6-3 decision.

After doubles play concluded, singles action proved to hold many possibilities for both teams as the score remained at 1-0 for nearly two and a half hours.

Cruising through set one 6-3 and fighting through a tiebreaker in the second set, Luca Staeheli earned the first singles point for the Pack on court three when he took down #98 Charlie Robertson, making the team score 1-2.

However, the scoreboard only held to 1-2 only momentarily, because Shick fell in two sets on court one to 17th-ranked Stefan Dostanic just minutes after. He displayed his grittiness as both sets were decided by a tiebreak.

Martin Borisiouk highlighted the night when he defeated seventh-ranked Dhakshineswar Suresh to make the score 2-3, keeping NC State's hopes alive.

Four of the six courts went to three sets to determine a winner. Ultimately, Wake Forest advanced when Jules Leroux fell in on court six to give the Deacon Demons the clinching point it needed.

The Pack moves into the consolation draw to take on familiar conference foe Virginia tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 16) at 2:00 p.m. (ET).

Wake Forest is the #2 ranked team in the country and we were very close to pulling the upset. We would have won the unfinished #4 singles match as Fons was up 5-2 in the 3rd set when play was abandoned. So it was really a narrow 3-4 loss. We only lost the two doubles matches by one break and two of the singles matches we lost went three sets. So the match very easily could have gone the other way. A quarterfinal (top 8 in the country) finish at national indoors is great. This team could be the best one in quite a long time at NC State - a serious contender for the ACC title and top 10 team nationally by end of year, IMO.
