In its first conference matchup of the season, 10th-ranked NC State (9-4, 1-0) protected its home court while taking down 22nd-ranked California (7-1, 0-1) by a 4-2 score and handing them their first loss of the season.

In front of a packed house, the Wolfpack got its first taste of the Friday night lights outdoors, fueling its way to an exciting victory.

And in the unfinished #6 singles match Manning was cruising to victory, up 6-1, 3-0.

So it would be a 5-2 win if fully played.

Adding this article a little late, on the win on Friday over Cal. Good quotes here from the head coach and players about how good the home crowd was at that match, and helped them to victory.

In an extensive thriller, senior captain Luca Staeheli upset his opponent to clinch the win for the Wolfpack over sixth-ranked Stanford on Sunday afternoon. The victory marks the third top-10 win for the red-and-white this season

Starting out in doubles play, all three courts ended up with tied 4-4 scores at the same time, looking like any court go in either direction. Court two took the next game to move to 5-4 while court three dropped the next game to go 4-5. Leroux and Staeheli took the first win on court two 6-4, fueling Shick and Van Sambeek on court one to quickly clinch with the same score in their match.

Singles kicked off looking bleak but the large crowd of fans was able to provide energy to the Pack throughout individual action on all courts.

Shick fell in straight sets on court one to No. 18 Samir Banerjee to even out the scoreboard 1-1.

On court four Van Sambeek cleaned up next, after fighting through a tough tiebreaker in the first set he was able to take the second 6-4 to fuel fire to his teammates on courts two and three that were battling through intense matches.

With a 2-1 edge, Borisiouk finished up just after on court three despite having the original lead in the second set. He fell in a tight tiebreaker which resulted in the Cardinal evening out the team scoreboard yet again, 2-2.

Singles two, five, and six were now left. With Jules Leroux on five and William Manning on six, they had a delayed start due to playing indoors.

Despite dropping the first set in a tiebreaker, Staeheli dominated his second set 6-0, and jumped out to an early lead in the third. By the time Leroux cruised through his win on court five in straight sets, Staeheli was down 4-5 in his third set.

Manning was up 4-1 on court six and ended up taking his first set and extending a lead in the second but all eyes were on Staeheli at court two. Finally, he was able to clinch the win for his team after pushing a tiebreaker in the third by a 7-2 score.

Luca Staeheli looked to be backed in a corner until he wasn't. Staeheli came back down 5-4 in his set to clinch No. 10 @PackMensTennis 4-2 win over No. 6 Stanford.

Head coach Kyle Spencer has @PackMensTennis at its highest ranking ever but it's the culture that he's most proud of.

Spencer: "The thing that I'm so, so proud of is the team environment, the family and the community that we've built here

Spencer said these impressive results from his younger players in high-pressure spots were a product of a competitive culture within the team, one that drives his players to the peak of their potential.

"We've gotten production from a couple of the young guys, and they really handled the environment quite well," Spencer said. "I will say, we compete a lot in practice in the sense of, we have a really competitive group everybody wants to win everything. So they want to win a baseline game, they want to win a tiebreaker at practice, they want to win a sprint. And so that competitive drive really translates into the matches."
