Pretty good chance State pitches a shut out tomorrow night, but in the past, these are the type of matches that Pop likes to let some younger guys get mat time and rest the starters. We have more weight classes still up for grabs than we did the last two years, so it'll be interesting to see how the line up works out in these non-conference matches.

If your opponent finishes in the negative, is it still a shutout?

FEATURED BOUTS
125: #5 Jakob Camacho vs. #30 Caleb Smith
A ranked matchup at 125 pounds will be Camacho's first ranked opponent of the season. He is off to a 5-0 start to the season, all bonus point wins. He scored a first-period pin last match vs. Gardner-Webb and has outscored his other four foes 63-14. Smith is a product of High Point, N.C., and went 10-1 last year. His lone loss, to Camacho 5-1 in an extra match. He is 6-1 this season (lone loss to #4 Courtney of Arizona State 6-5) and 16-2 in his career.

165: #15 Thomas Bullard vs. #26 Will Formato
After missing the Gardner-Webb dual Bullard is expected to return to the Pack's lineup, and against a very familiar foe. Bullard is 4-1 this season, but fell in his last dual appearance. Formato is 5-2 on the season, 1-1 against ranked foes. The pair will be facing off for the fifth time collegiate, the third time over the last two seasons. Last year they split their matches, Formato with a 4-0 win on the dual, then Bullard returning the favor 3-2 in the first round of the NCAA Championship. Bullard is 3-1 all-time vs. Formato.

I haven't watched, but reading on another board it sounds like the refs screwed us in the Jack match when he had the guy pinned and on another call in that match, which Jack only lost 7-6. Also, reading that we are getting hit with a bunch of bogus stall calls. Basically all the calls going for Iowa.

Reminds me of Trent getting screwed out of winning the title last year with those bogus stall calls.

I'm absolutely fed up with biased officiating and other rig jobs in college sports and NC State getting jobbed any time they get close to big wins - eg, last year at the baseball World Series. This favoritism and bias needs to be rooted out. It's going to kill sports.

Midway through the dual, Iowa was up 10-9.

Fr. Donald Cates stepped into the lineup at 165 pounds, and got the first takedown of the bout, but fell to #1 Alex Marinelli 7-2.

Back-to-back Hidlay victories game the Pack a 15-13 lead with two bouts left. #5 Hayden Hidlay scored a takedown in the first and added 1:11 of ride time for a 4-2 decision over Nelson Brands. #3 Trent Hidlay followed with a takedown and two-point near fall in the first, along with 2:25 of RT, for a 6-0 decision over Abe Assad.

He's still competing for the spot. We just have three guys that are very close. Pop said the starter will be determined based on matchups until later in the season. The southern scuffle will go a long way in determining who the starter is next weekend.
