The No. 12 NC State women's tennis team (13-3, 7-2 ACC) does not have to travel far for its final road contests of the regular season. The Wolfpack prepares for top-15 matches against Triangle foes as it visits No. 13 Duke on Thursday at 4 p.m. and No. 1 North Carolina on Saturday at 1 p.m.

ATTENDANCE INFO:
Duke (April 1) - Due to the impact of COVID-19, Duke University will begin its spring sport program seasons without spectators at home events. Contests played on Duke's campus will include essential game management personnel and broadcast media. Traditional parking lots used by fans on game day will be closed.

North Carolina (April 3) - If the match ends up being played outside, approximately 160-175 tickets are available to the general public. Tickets will be given away in pairs, and blocks of three and four. Masks and social distancing is required.

SCOUTING DUKE:
Five Duke singles players are ranked, and the Blue Devils join NC State as the only schools in the nation with two top-10 doubles pairs. Margaryta Bilokin and Meible Chi are ranked sixth, and Chloe Beck and Karolina Berankova are ranked 10th.

SCOUTING UNC:
The Tar Heels lead the ACC with an unblemished 9-0 conference record and a 19-0 overall record entering the weekend. The squad has spent the entirety of the 2021 dual match season ranked No. 1 nationally, and UNC won its second-straight ITA National Team Indoor title in February.

Seven members of UNC's team are ranked in singles, highlighted by Sara Daavettila (No. 3), Cameron Morra (No. 19) and Makenna Jones (No. 21) all in the top 25. Daavettila and Morra make up the nation's fourth-ranked doubles pair.

In a top-15 ACC matchup that came down to the final singles court, the No. 12 NC State women's tennis team emerged victorious with a 4-3 win over No. 13 Duke on Thursday evening.

With the win, NC State improved to 14-3 and 8-2 in conference play. The Pack extended its winning streak to six ACC matches and seven matches overall, and the squad has now defeated five nationally-ranked foes this season.

The victory also snapped the Pack's 16-match losing streak to the Blue Devils and was just NC State's second all-time win against Duke after the Pack also won the teams' matchup in Raleigh in 2007. Coming into the match, the Blue Devils had won 54 straight home contests. NC State and Duke did not get a chance to square off last season in a campaign that was shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Pack looked sharp in doubles action as some of the nation's best pairs faced off against one another. Ninth-ranked Anna Rogers and Alana Smith came out victorious, 6-2, in a top-10 matchup with sixth-ranked Meible Chi and Margaryta Bilokin. Freshmen Abigail Rencheli and Amelia Rajecki did not shy away from a big opportunity and earned their first ranked doubles win in 6-1 fashion over No. 39 Kelly Chen and Georgia Drummy.

After Duke took the 2-1 lead in the team score with a pair of straight-sets wins, the remaining four singles matches came down to third sets. NC State took two of those matches with Abigail Rencheli and Alana Smith gutting out wins, but the Blue Devils quickly tied the match with a win on court six.

The decision came down to court one in a face off between fifth-ranked Rogers and 27th-ranked Chen. Rogers overcame a set deficit and also a multi-game deficit in the third set to claim the 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 7-5 win and clinch in dramatic fashion for the Pack.

The No. 12 NC State women's tennis team fell to No. 1 North Carolina in a ranked ACC matchup on Saturday afternoon, as the Tar Heels came away with the 6-1 win.

The decision snapped a seven-match winning streak for the Wolfpack, which is now 14-4 on the season and 8-3 in conference play. NC State had not lost a match since March 7.

Abigail Rencheli and Amelia Rajecki won their ninth-straight doubles match together, improving to 9-1 in dual match play as a duo. They defeated UNC's Alexa Graham and Anika Yarlagadda on court three, but the Tar Heels won the matches on courts one and two to clinch the opening point.

Alana Smith added a point for the Pack in singles action, with her 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over No. 19 Cameron Morra checking in as her highest ranked win of the season.
