Gotta say...never really understood the "No Kings" theme. The USA was formed based on the notion, weve fought multiple wars over it. No matter how you feel about Trump, he was democratically elected, won every single swing state, and won the popular vote.

Maybe pick up a history book before creating idiotic themes

Jonah Goldberg nails it here.

Jonah Goldberg is a Trump hating faux Republican!!! He lost all sense of reasonability way before Trump came on the sceneโ€ฆ

All you do is make ad hominem attacks on Goldberg.

What specifically did he say that was wrong?

Actually, what did he say is right?

The last sentence.

So? What do you suggest we do?
much like immigration, it's a supply and demand issue. We've tried for 40 years to attack the supply side with billions of dollars. At what point do we try the demand side of things? Because all that's going to happen is the manufacturing will move to another country and ill we will be doing is killing a bunch of pawns.

Sounds like some fine talking points but be specific. What would you do to address the demand side of things?

We could go after the cartel leaders and corrupt government officials. We have the technology and the hardware. We don't need to send the 1st Marine division to get this done.

Yea...I have no idea where this comes from. I dont know a single right winger that feels this way about Trump.

Also, what is the goal of this protest? What outcome are they looking to achieve?

Nothing. But it doesn't matter to the Civs and Daves of the world. They'll just claim you didn't read/listen to it instead of addressing the validity of it. I think that point was especially hammered home by the stupidity of the No Kings protest. Protests built upon fallacy. It also accentuates how the party has nothing other than "get Trump/conservatives". Look at all of the people at these protests calling for the murder of Trump or those in his administration. Look at the Virginia Dem running for AG wishing for the murder of his opponent and opponent's children. Not a peep from the Civs and Daves of the world about those issues either. It's always been "whatever it takes". Lies, propaganda, and weaponization of law enforcement/judicial system didn't work. Now, they're just hoping for outright murder.

Funny they talk about "no kings" while their party literally tried to install a candidate that NONE of them voted for to be the president last year. The idiocy truly knows no bounds on the liberal left.

Not sure what you mean about "where it comes from." If you mean the source, Goldberg is the founder of the right-center Dispatch, and whose bona fides WRT his conservative stances on all manners of topics are well-established.

If you're saying his opinions don't align with most Republicans that's not in dispute. His opinions are well-reasoned though, and there's obviously a subset of the right/center and a very high proportion of the left that feels the way he does.

As far as what the protests hope to achieve, same as any other protest I'm sure - raise awareness around the level of concern across the country for the lack of apparent democratic accountability in the Trump administration.

Political leaders have a harder time ignoring grievances if they believe there may be an electoral price to pay for their actions or inactions.

Where are the Pubs that want Trump to do whatever he wants? Please provide an actual example.

I do think most want him to govern without interference, particularly from the judicial branch. I dont think we are at the judicial tyranny some are screeching about, but I dont think you can argue that there are plenty of judges who have made some...lets call them questionable injunctions against Trump.

I do find your last two lines to be a bit ironic. Maybe if the Dems would have a bit of self reflection, they might understand why they got demolished in the 2024 election, but instead they seem hell bent on doubling down. Screeching about accountability when the last administration was led by a dude who doesnt have a clue what day of the week it is.

My son is a freshman this year and it's quite impressive the number of conservatives in the younger generation. All of his suite mates are conservatives (and many/most on his floor) and they're vocal about it as well. They're finding their voice and want to be heard as a conservative which is something my age group never did and probably not many conservatives between my age and his age either tbh.

Actually, I want for our country to recognize the true meaning of our constitution. We have three branches of government, right? I know you can list them, right?

So, with the tree branches of government, you can site, where does the federal government departments fall under? In other words, who manages them?

if you can't say the President, then we will never find agreement.

Now, we all know that the Legislature passes laws and appropriates money. That's doesn't mean all the money has to be used, in order to execute laws, right?

If the legislature appropriates money for a Department, that doesn't mean they manage the ongoing operations, right?

In summary, what I see is Trump trying to get back control of the Presidents roll within our Constitutional frameworkโ€ฆ

Where are the Pubs publicly criticizing or reigning in any of the quite possibly unconstitutional or illegal or non-normative acts so far this term?

The Republican Party has been captured by the cult. We literally have our President sending out videos of him dumping **** all over Americans becuase he doesn't like their opinions, and Press Secretaries telling snide Yo Mama jokes directed towards the press corps in response to normal questions because there is zero apparent accountability from anyone in the Administration towards the American people.

Tariffs
Birthright citizenship
Creation of DOGE and usurping of related powers normally reserved for Congress
Targeting law firms and attorneys via executive order
Blackmailing universities by witholding federal funding from universities unless they align politically with his goals
Extrajudicial killings of assumed drug runners in international waters
Impounding of funds allocated by Congress
Ignoring or defying immigration and other court orders
Blatant violations of the Hatch smearing Democrats in official White House and federal government correspondences and communications
Bailing out Argentina to the tune of tens of billions, all while China shifts more of its soybean purchasing to Argentina, which in turn necessitates propping up American soybean farmers even more
Completely transparent direction of his AG to pursue vindictive prosecution of Trump's political enemies
Governing by meme, and violating innumerable norms relating to the requisite professionalism and propriety of the office, including his most recent AI video of him literally dumping **** all over the heads of Americans, all while prices continue going up (due in no small part to his pointless tariffs) and America gets mired further in economic uncertainty and strife

And these are just the ones that are top of mind after thinking about it for two seconds. He literally does and says wild, potentially illegal, and certainly improper **** every day.

Any one analagous action to these from Obama or Biden would have been the source of neverending Fox News, OAN, and Newsmax coverage, along with calls for impeachment. With this Republican congress? Crickets.

There is no indication of a desire by Congressional Republicans other than, completely crazily, MTG, to speak up about any of this mess.

Protests like this remind our leaders that a sizeable fraction of America is in stark disagreement with these and other behaviors and actions and inactions. It's the only thing the public can do until the next election. It's literally the only power the people have.

Which is what makes the ridiculous attacks on the protests from Trump and Mike Johnson on down (including on social media and on here) as "hate America" protests or full of old people, or betas, or whatever, so childish and immature and unAmerican.

Tens of millions of Americans are unhappy. What would you have them do? Which is more likely effective, tweeting about it into the void, or millions of Americans mobilizing and protesting in a way that leaders see and will find harder to dismiss?

Who knows what changes, if anything, but I guarantee you more Congressional Republicans are talking about No Kings issues behind closed doors than they would have, had the protest marches not occurred.

Civ, I'll put aside your vitriolic rant and try to deal with your pointsโ€ฆ atleast the ones I'm familiar withโ€ฆ

Tariffs - Tariffs have been used by many administrations either by initiating them or doing nothing about them. If your team was so worried about the tariffs, why didn't they get rid of the initial tariffs Trump did, in his first term. Also, as you typically say, let it playin the courts.

Birthright Citizenship - Executive order that will be tested in the courts. You know we do have people with disagreements on this subject.

DOGE - I think this one has no merit either. I really don't remember how this was created and what rules the WH used to justify this action. So, I'll need to do more research.

Targeting Law firms - these law firms have made a mint off the Federal Government, representing it for various means. Additionally, they are puppets of the left wing world. So, to get them to do pro bono work, based on the historical amounts of money, they've made, well, it's just part of the game. Otherwise, cut them off completely. They don't have a right to the work, you knowโ€ฆ

Blackmailing Universities - If they receive funds from the Federal Government and they are in violation of an Executive order, well, hold the money. Universities do not have a right to funding.

Extrajudicial Killings - These people were attempting to illegally enter our waters with Drugs. Get them in international or US waters. Protecting the US is goal number 1 for the Federal Government.

Impounding of Funds - Funds not used should go where?

Ignoring court orders - which one specifically?

Violation of Hatch - You really want to use that? Wow!! That one is rich!!

Bailing out Argentina - Policy difference, that's okโ€ฆ

The AG works for the President - Galrland never did thatโ€ฆ

Governing by memes - you just don't like his style. That's called TDS.
