Yeah, I saw this on here yesterday and was ready to post that I'd been up there like that before… then I saw the 102mph gusts, and said no the hell I haven't.

Been in that top parking lot before with 65mph gusts and could barely walk to the building and almost had a car door ripped off, and I hiked the Grandfather Trail to Calloway's peak with snow and ice on the ground in steady 40mph winds (I was the only car on the mountain that day in early 2012). But I can't even imagine standing up even in 102mph.

That Grandfather Trail hike was my last uncompleted trail on that mountain that I knocked out by myself in February 2012, right before I had to move to the coast, nothing was keeping me from finishing that out. Now, I can barely walk to the fridge…

When the tornado came through in 1988 that destroyed the K-Mart, that happened at about 12:30 in the morning and missed our house by about 200 yards. My dog was acting crazy all night because of the thunderstorms. My 6 year old son kept yelling tornado is coming early in the evening. I heard the thunder and my wife heard the train sound and got out of bed of and was going to check the TV for warnings then the power went out.

Sounds like we are going to get everything at some point. Got some fuel for the generator just in case we lose power. Also got some food as well. I hate ice and that's what I'm worried about, plus winds up to 40. Not good.

I got the last 2 bottles of 46 that was on our stores shelf today. First time I've been able to get it here in a couple of months. Mrs. BTG just came into the den and said "our snowpocalypse has begun" and laughed.

If it is as major as the one last weekend was, I should be able to tee off about 10 am Sunday unless they say the course is too wet to play.

We also had snow and I was out sledding for several hours. It was Super Bowl Sunday! Our power went out that night and we had to spend the next night in a hotel. Got down to about 40 degrees inside.

A salt truck has overturned in Cary due to the Triangle's icy road conditions.
At approximately 6 a.m. Saturday morning the Cary Police Department confirmed a salt truck overturned on Green Level West Road in Cary while out trying to treat roads.
The overturned vehicle has currently shut down the intersection at Beaver Dam Road and Green Level Church Road until approximately 7 a.m., officials confirmed over the phone to CBS 17.
There are no injuries to report at this time.

A North Carolina Department of Transportation snowplow overturned in Moore County as crews worked to treat roads during Friday's snowfall. The Sandhills Sentinel reported that the truck overturned on N.C. 24/27 outside of Carthage. The newspaper said around 7:45 p.m. it was "one of several accidents in the past hour."

But, damn… that was a fun day. (and glad that it was a long time ago as well).

That was about 1 week before I got married. The high for the day was -6F. My beard and mustache froze just from me breathing.
