Yes... by all means... REMEMBER...."let's keep politics out of this..." LMAO... at least we know where this all started right?

You don't have to wear masks if you are at a BLM riot, a lefty event, a "high end fancy restaurant, a lefty politician or someone who supports lefty causes.

You must wear a mask if you don't agree with anything the left supports and you are "anti-science."

School is claiming it doesnt matter and the 10 extra days is baked in regardless if he is living elsewhere for now. Looks like I need to find a number for Wake County Health or DHHS and straighten these people out.
I'm not sure how in any sane world, justifying 17 days out of school is a reasonable solution for a relative being tested positive, but the kid not?

Seems like this is going to become more widespread, with the new federal government over-reach on this.
My company, in its return to office plans, is so far just requiring masks to be worn all day, but is still mulling over the new edict. I could see it being used as an easy way to reduce headcount as desired though at some point....

You had to expect this. The move by UC board is politically motivated (I'd bet a beer that one of the leaders of that board will be putting their "if you're afraid of dying, you aren't living" lines on an election ad poster for a bigger office soon). And Mandy and Cooper have a certain bit of face to save with the Toolkit thing.

Lets hope the numbers decrease soon overall, and the state can't just say "your + cases are higher than your like-sized counties"

As much as healthcare providers making recommendations is, i guess.

Its funny, a paid healthcare person says "wear a mask or be quarantined" and thats political hackery, but a real estate developer says, despite what the healthcare person says, we think not only do you not have to wear masks, but no quarantining at all, and thats "following the science".
Unless symptoms of course....which was then one of the major points used by the infectious disease doctor that was much celebrated on here earlier to day for her impassioned plea to NOT use quarantining on symptoms.
But yeah, science and all.

Yeah, quarantining for 14 days is too much absolutely....the two parties could have been actual adults and reached a compromise -- if someone was insistent not to wear a mask, make them take a test. Really pretty simple. Testing those exposed would be much more scientific. And likely convenient.

But it plays really really well to appeal to peoples "rights".

I have been a remote worker since March 2020. We got an email two days ago that said they will likely require all employees, to be vaccinated, even if we are a remote worker. Of course, this does not affect me, since I have bene fully vaccinated for months, but I am sure there are employees it does affect. I do not know what ramifications there will be if people chose not to get vaccinated, but I assume termination could be an option or they just might require weekly testing. They are supposed to provide better guidance in another week.

Perhaps that would be because the real estate developer believes that nothing, even a pandemic of a bug that has a maybe 1% mortality rate, is above people's constitutional rights, while a healthcare worker thinks only of the immediate task before them and how to accomplish that task even if it requires embracing fascist measures.

Right, because being out 7 days and getting tested to come back (As the doctor's tweets on the previous page suggested) is teh same as sitting out 14, or 17, or whatever # of days.

No matter how much you want to not believe it -- politics on both sides - have a play in this. This is not just a one-sided affair.

ETA: And the quotes are because the moronic leader of the UC School board actually used that term last week before the board made a decision, when she said she was continually hearing from teachers, parents and kids that they didn't want their "rights" to live life as they see fit be infringed upon. Mehhhh....I said from the beginning, UC should have found a way to compromise between the school board and the health director (both county and state). Again, things don't have to be black and white....both "sides" can be dumb, especially if they can't come to a middle ground on this.

If you're insistent on no masks like the UC board clearly was, then implement some sort of test policy to allow exposed kids to come back sooner. The health director's policy of 14 days was dumb. Wake's policy of 17 days or whatever Wayland is having to encounter is even dumber. But so is saying "no masks, no testing, no absences".

You say "science"....how many doctors are signing up for the above policy?

Wake's policy is that if the contact is with a household member then the student can't even begin their quarantine until AFTER the isolation period for that household member EVEN IF the student and household member are not living in the same house during the isolation period.

Which means, a healthy student is out of school for 17-24 days for a contact.

I still think it is a semantics issue. And the tier 1 Wake Public Health individual communicating policy to the school is an absolute ****ING moron and doesn't understand the rule.

Beijing Joe's vaxx mandate is obviously illegal, unconstitutional, and tyrannical.

But the Supreme Court has demonstrated that it is completely corrupt and unwilling to uphold the Constitution.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-s-wildly-unconstitutional-vaccine-mandate/ar-AAOrv1y

Quote:

Biden's wildly unconstitutional vaccine mandate

Justin Haskins
The Hill
9/15/2021

In what may go down as one of the most significant attempts to expand the power of the presidency in modern history, President Biden announced on Sept. 9 a series of sweeping new vaccine mandates, which, together, could affect as many 100 million people.

[...]

The decision to impose vaccines nationwide is one of the most stunning moves made by any president, a view bolstered by Biden's speech announcing the plan, which included several explicit or implicit threats and warnings.

[...]

When confronted with questions about the constitutionality of the mandate, defenders of the president have insisted Biden has the authority to issue a national vaccine mandate under the vaguely written Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, which was created to improve safety conditions in the workplace.

But a federal statute cannot be interpreted to warrant an unconstitutional law, since the Constitution is the supreme law of the federal government. So, unless a legal scholar can cite a provision in the Constitution that gives the president the authority to mandate vaccines or even to simply regulate public health generally, the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 cannot be used to justify the mandate. And no such constitutional provision exists.

Others have pointed to a Supreme Court case from 1905, Jacobson v. Massachusetts, as proof that the president has the authority to issue a vaccine requirement.

It is true that the Supreme Court in Jacobson ruled that vaccine mandates can be imposed by a local government, so long as that government is not acting in violation of state law. And it's also true the Massachusetts law cited in the case was even more intrusive than the policies now being pushed by the Biden administration. But this argument also fails spectacularly for one very important reason.

In Jacobson, the Supreme Court determined that a local vaccine mandate is permissible under the Constitution because states have maintained their police powers and authority to regulate public health under the 10th Amendment, which guarantees, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
But the decision in Jacobson does not include language indicating that the national government has the same authority. The case has nothing to do with federal vaccine mandates like the one imposed by Biden.

Nothing in the Constitution suggest that the executive branch can impose blanket vaccine regulations on private businesses or their employees.

The only question that remains is whether the Supreme Court will strike down Biden's mandate. If the court refuses to get involved, the public will suffer for generations, as one presidential administration after another erodes its hard-won liberties.

NC CLI Surveillance comes out today. Looks like the CLI% is the lowest it has been in almost a month (since pre-peak)

(it is still at a peak in the Wayland household)

Seems like this is going to become more widespread, with the new federal government over-reach on this.
My company, in its return to office plans, is so far just requiring masks to be worn all day, but is still mulling over the new edict. I could see it being used as an easy way to reduce headcount as desired though at some point....
Weekly testing for a remote worker? What is that other than just pure stupidity?
Yes and SAS is going to fire remote workers who are unvaccinated. Vaccination has become a condition of employment for many companies.

Wait until they start requiring all people in the household to be vaccinated to maintain employment…. Including kids as young as 1 day old.

My company recently issued a voluntary survey of employee vaccine status. No one is going to be let go for being unvaxxed or not responding, but the results, it's said, may be used to decide how to conduct onsite business. I'm not opposed but it seems a little late in the game for this, frankly. I guess the timing of this response was limited by FDA approval.

There are multiple groups of highly trained employees where I work who have to work onsite - no option. If they were to have a Covid outbreak in those groups, it could be costly for the company and potentially also have other effects. These groups have not been required to get vaccines, which is somewhat surprising to me. (I'm not in those groups - I have the option to work remote, although I choose not to.)

It's all part of the "end game." As long as the lefties are in power the elections are going to "require" the safest of measures. Mail-in voting. Ballot harvesting.

Got to keep the sheep in the herd.
The end game is 100% about Mail-in voting and Ballot harvesting... in fact, Fauci's Wuhan lab is probably toiling away working on that next variant. None of this is by accident either.

I don't think your company is late, I work for a Fortune 100 company and they always had targeted after Labor Day for return to work / travel, however that's been pushed back and they're taking a "hybrid" approach and letting each business decide internally while working with their clients.
