I have been a remote worker since March 2020. We got an email two days ago that said they will likely require all employees, to be vaccinated, even if we are a remote worker. Of course, this does not affect me, since I have bene fully vaccinated for months, but I am sure there are employees it does affect. I do not know what ramifications there will be if people chose not to get vaccinated, but I assume termination could be an option or they just might require weekly testing. Wake's policy is that if the contact is with a household member then the student can't even begin their quarantine until AFTER the isolation period for that household member EVEN IF the student and household member are not living in the same house during the isolation period.
Which means, a healthy student is out of school for 17-24 days for a contact.
I still think it is a semantics issue. And the tier 1 Wake Public Health individual communicating policy to the school is an absolute ****ING moron and doesn't understand the rule.

UC does have a policy for exposed kids to come back sooner. If they are asymptomatic they come back.

This is where high vaccination rates can get you. Booster decisions are not being made on immunology per se but on high circulating rates of virus in some countries; EU (400 million people) not doing boosters but US/Israel higher cases with delta due to lower vax rates

When confronted with questions about the constitutionality of the mandate, defenders of the president have insisted Biden has the authority to issue a national vaccine mandate under the vaguely written Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, which was created to improve safety conditions in the workplace.
But a federal statute cannot be interpreted to warrant an unconstitutional law, since the Constitution is the supreme law of the federal government. So, unless a legal scholar can cite a provision in the Constitution that gives the president the authority to mandate vaccines or even to simply regulate public health generally, the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 cannot be used to justify the mandate. And no such constitutional provision exists.
Others have pointed to a Supreme Court case from 1905, Jacobson v. Massachusetts, as proof that the president has the authority to issue a vaccine requirement.
It is true that the Supreme Court in Jacobson ruled that vaccine mandates can be imposed by a local government, so long as that government is not acting in violation of state law. And it's also true the Massachusetts law cited in the case was even more intrusive than the policies now being pushed by the Biden administration. But this argument also fails spectacularly for one very important reason.
In Jacobson, the Supreme Court determined that a local vaccine mandate is permissible under the Constitution because states have maintained their police powers and authority to regulate public health under the 10th Amendment, which guarantees, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
But the decision in Jacobson does not include language indicating that the national government has the same authority. The case has nothing to do with federal vaccine mandates like the one imposed by Biden.
Nothing in the Constitution suggest that the executive branch can impose blanket vaccine regulations on private businesses or their employees.
The only question that remains is whether the Supreme Court will strike down Biden's mandate. If the court refuses to get involved, the public will suffer for generations, as one presidential administration after another erodes its hard-won liberties.

My company recently issued a voluntary survey of employee vaccine status. No one is going to be let go for being unvaxxed or not responding, but the results, it's said, may be used to decide how to conduct onsite business. I'm not opposed but it seems a little late in the game for this, frankly. I guess the timing of this response was limited by FDA approval.
There are multiple groups of highly trained employees where I work who have to work onsite - no option. If they were to have a Covid outbreak in those groups, it could be costly for the company and potentially also have other effects. These groups have not been required to get vaccines, which is somewhat surprising to me. (I'm not in those groups - I have the option to work remote, although I choose not to.)

I don't think your company is late, I work for a Fortune 100 company and they always had targeted after Labor Day for return to work / travel, however that's been pushed back and they're taking a "hybrid" approach and letting each business decide internally while working with their clients.dogplasma said:
